Calling all women (or family actually) that has spent years dining in Tan Goei, now they've created a new and improved concept! Tan Goei here used to be located near Maple and Oak but has moved to across of Lara Djonggrang, still in Menteng area actually and changed their name to Heritage by Tan Goei!
Tan Goei is actually the surname of the owner's family and has been a family business ever since! It was once closed down because no one would run it but after realizing that the foods they have throughout generations is delicious, they decided to keep on the business. Now the ones that runs this are 2 newlyweds called Yuwinda Muliadi and her husband who is also the chef here!
Came here after a few days of their opening, maybe a week or so and it's understandable that the place is still not yet 100%. Interior's really simple and homey and I guess you can call it minimalist. They're also going to make an outdoor smoking room soon!
Oh and they also offers proper coffee here!
As I sat down and observe, it's shown that their customers are mostly women or businessmen, not youngsters, which is where they want to improve! By their new concept, they want to attract the youngsters as well. They started to sell instagenic brunch menus that also taste wonderful, they also changed their plates to look better!
And fyi, these props they hang on the wall can also be used as photo props!
HUZARENSLA IDR 45K
What a unique name...lol! It's actually potato salad with fruits. Their concept is a fusion of Indonesian and Western, Dutch to be exact, so some are traditional Dutch cuisine!
WIENER SCHNITZEL IDR 118K
You can either choose tenderloin or chicken for this and served in a sizzling hot stone. Be sure to eat it before the breaded tenderloin gets too mushy! Smothered with special Tan Goei sauce, where there are huge mushrooms and very light taste!
Even though it's well done, it's still super tender and really old fashioned type of comfort food!
BISTIK LIDAH IDR 98K
This is BOMBASTIC! The best one I've ever tasted, super tasty and tender!!
NASI LANGGI IDR 60K
A very traditional dish, see how it's even served on a banana leaf. In this is opor ayam, tempe orek, acar kuning, sambal ati ampela, yes, I deliberately written all that in Indonesian to enhance how traditional this is! Taste amazing by the way!
SUP MERAH IDR 49K
First time trying this! It's tomato based with chicken sausage, green peas, mushroom, and potato chips. People who cooks this at home usually uses spam instead of chicken sausage but since this place is HALAL, they exchanged it!
PASTEL TUTUP IDR 45K
This is actually very filling instead of just a snack. Didn't know what pastel tutup is at first but after tasting it, I find it familiar though I forgot where I've had them!
COCONUT YOGURT IDR 48K
Here's their brunch menu and a more western type. This is watermelon with yogurt and granola, plus they use palm sugar to make sure there's still an Indonesian touch in it!
Well, I guess this type of food will most likely attract moms and older people but I'd definitely come back for that bombastic Bistik Lidah! Last but not least, CONGRATULATIONS for the opening! We wish you a lot of success!
