Devon Cafe is here in Jakarta!! More specifically in Senayan City Mall at the Crystal Lagoon area, yes, the one with the fish pond..lol! It just opened weeks ago and the waiting list is crazy, which is pretty expected since this is one of the top restaurants in Sydney.

BRUNCH AT RASA RESTAURANT AYANA JAKARTA
Quick question! What's your favorite spot for a Sunday Brunch? Do you prefer hotels or restaurants? We'd go with both as long as the foods are good..lol! This time we had a chance to dine at Ayana Jakarta (used to be Intercontinental) for their Sunday Brunch at Rasa Restaurant! The Sunday Brunch here costs IDR 388K nett per person and I personally find the price worth it, as the variety is a lot, especially the dessert section. Just imagine a very long table filled with lots of dessert varieties! There's even 2 fondue, chocolate and strawberry!

BEAU HQ
This isn't exactly a new restaurant as they already have an outlet at Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia but this is their first outlet that is not in a mall. It's called Beau and I think that you're all familiar with this, their new branch is at Cikajang road in Senopati area. More specifically across of Mister Sunday and Cut The Crab. For those who aren't familiar with the place, this is a patisserie where you can enjoy delicious pastries made by Talita Setyadi, which is also the owner by the way!

SUPREME BRUNCH AT SHANGRILA JAKARTA
Back to Shangri-la for another amazing dining experience! And when we say amazing, we mean super amazing! It's Supreme Brunch and just from the name, you know that it's going to be awesome! Especially since it's from Shangri-la, a hotel with Satoo as their restaurant!
Wondering what Supreme Brunch is? Well, it's a brunch promotion available from 2nd August - 7th December 2015. The promotion is a monthly culinary carnival, where guests can explore delectable international cuisine from India, Thailand, the West, and China and appetizing Indonesian hawker food!
So by paying a certain amount of money, you can have an all you can eat buffet at not only Satoo but also Shang Palace! Yeap, you can explore both restaurant freely with more selection of cuisines than usual! Doesn't that sound marvelous?
Seeing as we've already experience an incredible dining at Satoo, we're totally psyched after hearing that we got a chance to try Shang Palace as well! Whereas Satoo has a various range of cuisine and Shang Palace focuses on Chinese cuisines, the greatest cuisine in the world!
It was both a fulfilling and fun adventure, where it's as if you're on a food scavenging hunt! There's even a map in the middle of Shang Palace and Satoo, explaining which cuisine goes where!
The desserts offered were also different than the ones we had before, since last time was the red event, where the desserts are all colored red. This time is more colorful, though the types of desserts were not that much different! The new ones I noticed is probably the cones, now we get to have ice cream on a cone!
If you're thinking of taking you're kids, have no worries, since they also provided a kids corner! There's a special corner of kids foods and game center (not the machine kind of game)!
As you can see we went full out! Yeap, this was what we had! It's not just the 2 of us though, so please relax those judging eyes..lol! We just can't help it, since the foods here are all superb and definitely high quality!
What surprises me the most was probably these fresh seafood! As you can clearly see from how many we had on our plate!
On Shang Palace my favorite would be the pork rice noodle roll (Cheong fan) and the mantou with condensed milk! I think I had 5 of the mantou myself, since it's just so fluffy! You just have to try it!
THANK YOU SHANGRI-LA FOR THE CRAZY SUPREME BRUNCH!

BENEDICT GRAND INDONESIA, JAKARTA
Hey, I'm kinda stressed out right now and it's all because I'm facing my final thesis! Although I'm still just doing the proposal, it's nerve-wrecking whenever I think whether they'll accept it or not! (And it's just a thesis proposal, not marriage, can't imagine what guys have to go through, lol!) This is what cause the very late post, which I know it just sounds like 'excuses, excuses, excuses!', so I apologize for that!
Anyways, putting all those stressful things aside, I'm gonna present to you today's topic! Eggsss, it's all about eggs!! Yes, it's Benedict! *YAY* I know you're probably wondering why I'm all hyped up about something other than pork and desserts, but that's because I've waited for Benedict to open for quite some time now. If I remembered correctly, it was since December! Came here for dinner, you probably thought it was for breakfast, but nope, dinner! Lol!
This new tough competitor landed itself on Grand Indonesia, across Uniqlo and next to iBox to be exact. Being in the same group as Union, E&O, Cork n Screw, etc, it was expected that they have the similar kind of interior, since their interior designer is actually the same!
Upon entering, you'll find some desserts on display on your left. They look super tempting but unfortunately, I didn't try any of their cakes or desserts, cause I only wanted to try their dishes. I'll save those for my next visit!
Guessing that this is those free-to-smoke kind of place, which disappoints me. As expected, it was a full house when I came here, to the point where the bar seats are also full! Wow! Well, the place is perfect for dining, snacking, and hanging out, combined all the people looking for those into one and BOOM!
And this was on a weekday, at night! Arrived around 7 pm, I had to go on the waiting list, which I was the second group in line. That's not that long, right? WRONG! I waited 'till 9 pm just to get a table! Unbelievable!
Let's go on with food now, shall we?
PEPPERMINT TEA
First of, WHY is it that green?! I'd be just fine if it was light green or something, like how teas are supposed to be, but that just looks like poison in a glass! Lol! Tasted okay though, very refreshing!
MEXICAN IDR 80K
Chorizo, peppers, chipotle hollandaise, corn fritters, feta cheese.
This is one of Benedict's signature dish but truth be told, it's not my kind of food, just because it kinda taste like corn fritters with too much flour. The only savior here is the beautiful eggs and hollandaise! I think it's just me though, since I came here with a friend and she liked it!
Look at those gorgeous yolk!
BREAKFAST HASH IDR 75K
Short ribs, mushroom, potatoes, fried egg, béarnaise sauce, sourdough.
Best dish I had here!! Though it's not really photogenic, the taste made me not care about it at all! Can you believe it? This is one of the all day breakfast menu, so even though it's meant for breakfast, you can still order it anytime! Lucky! I don't know why, but I kinda think it tastes like a modernized Indonesian stew(?) You should really try it!
FLORENTINE IDR 85K
Dill-cured salmon, sautéed baby spinach, tobiko, hollandaise, challah bread.
Another one of their signatures and a highly recommended by the waiter. It's sort of a comfort food, so expect the seasoning to be very light! However, I personally am not a big fan of light seasonings, since I have Indonesian blood running in my veins, lol! Had to add more salt and pepper into it, but after that, it really turned into a satisfying dish! The challah bread, which I just learnt that it's Jewish, is ultimately soft and topping it with a beautiful salmon and tobiko made it heavenly!
FOIE GRAS RICE IDR 165K
Confit duck, crispy garlic, sous-vide egg, pickled shitake mushrooms.
This was my friend's, since I'm not a big fan of foie gras and really can't understand why people love it so much! It's unusually expensive and there's a certain weird smell plus weird texture, nope, not for me! If you like foie gras then maybe this is perfect for you. There's no complain from my friend, so I guess it's okay, you need to mix it all first though!
FROZEN CUSTARD SANDWICH IDR 30K
Petite brioche slider with a choice of our fav custards.
Inside the sandwich is actually the usual frozen custard, the 4 choices of custards; black sesame, cheesecake, apple pie, and maple bacon. I was gonna order the favorite maple bacon frozen custard but the waiter recommended this sandwich, which already has 3 self-pick choices of custard, so why not? My best picks are the black sesame and of course, the all time favorite, maple bacon, the crispy bacon totally blew me away! Only thing that disturbed me was the paper lining, since the just rip and stick everywhere cause of the custard! Get rid of those!!
There are a lot more dishes that I wanted to try here, but since I can't eat all of it at once, I've decided to come back some other time to try them!! I didn't even get to taste their desserts! Darn it! I guess I'll be seeing you again soon, Benedict!

BREAKFAST MENU - CARNIVOR PIK
Sooo sorry about the late posting but here it is! The first post of the month! Yay! We were invited last month to a restaurant at Pantai Indah Kapuk, which you might be familiar with, it's Carnivor. They're offering a new breakfast menu which is available only on Tuesday - Sunday at 07:30 am - 11:00 am. Why not at Mondays? Maybe cause they also doesn't like to wake up early for Mondays. Lol! Most of the breakfast menus consist of eggs and my favorite, pork! So now you can satisfy your cravings earlier! I'm personally not a morning person, so I might probably take my breakfast half an hour before 11 if I ever decided to grab some breakfast here.
Anyway, Carnivor is not really new and they specialize on meats and bbq ribs actually, which is a bit different than this breakfast menu that they're making but trust me, this breakfast menu is outstanding!
Again, I apologize for not taking photos of their interior for some reason.
SHAKSHOUKA IDR 68K
Sizzling pan of homemade tomato, onion, studded with sausage, ham, crowned with two eggs, toasted bread & mesclun salad.
Okay, I don't usually like tomato...but THIS was so delicious that I forgot all about it! The amazing dished completed with generous amount of diced sausages and hams, topped with two beautiful sunny side ups, served with warm and crispy toast and salad, it's a breakfast to die for!! I love how they described this dish with 'crowned with two eggs' cause it really was like a King of breakfast!
CROQUE MONSIEUR
Option of white toast or yeast toast top with tomato or cream sauce with melted mozzarella cheese
Meat Lover (55K)
Bacon And Egg (48K)
Pepperoni (48K)
Mix Cheese (48K)
A Croque Monsieur is often used as a trusty dish when it comes to breakfasts. It's a really simple dish, which is perfect to start a day with! The Croque Monsieur here comes with 4 options for their toppings and with different prices as well. 2 of the options has pork in it; meat lover & bacon and egg. The one I tried was the bacon and egg, the one that contains pork (of course!), might I say that this was not the most photogenic dish but the taste really turned the table around! I especially love their melted mozzarella! Yum!!
SPANISH HASH IDR 65K
Poached egg, holladaise sauce, diced potato, sausage bratwurst, pork ham, and toasted bread.
This is my second favorite after the Shakshouka! The ingredients was also kind of similar but with different processing AND without the tomato!! Yay! One more crucial thing, this dish contains my favorite, pork! The whole dish was also drizzled with creamy Hollandaise sauce that will make you crave for more!! Perfect!
Let's take a closer look to this heavenly meal!
EGG BENEDICT
Streaky Bacon (49K)
Smoked Ham (45K)
Salmon (65K)
Another popular breakfast meal is an Egg Benedict, you can almost find this in most breakfast menus! Who could resist those creamy egg yolks mixed together with their beautiful Hollandaise sauce?? I just love some Egg Benedict, especially if their poached eggs are made perfectly! Anyway, for this menu, they also has a few option for the proteins. This one's the streaky bacon, so they'd still have the mushrooms and eggs but with different meat toppings, you can also choose ham or salmon. All of them sounds appetizing!
The photo below is the Salmon one and the amount of salmon was really generous! The taste can be a bit overwhelming but it's too good that you just can't stop munching them down!
CARNIVOR BIG BREAKFAST IDR 69K
2 eggs to your liking, baked beans, streaky pork bacon, sausage bratwurst, sauteed mushroom, and white toast.
A complete set of breakfast that has every nutrients you need to start your day's activities! If you're in need of something simple, filling, and delicious, this might be your cup of tea! What more could you need?
PUFF PASTRY SANDWICH
Let's continue on to something a bit more fancy! Well, I just said it's fancy because they use puff pastry as the buns. The surprising thing is that this was not on the menu and it came to our table like a bonus! Unfortunately, I didn't get to try this one, but inside it was the typical eggs, ham, and Hollandaise sauce, which is what most of the dishes here are all about! It looked amazing though and I bet the puff pastry was delightfully crispy and moist in the same time! Must've been yummy!
This was like small pieces of hash brown!
AVOCADO AFFOGATO IDR 21K
To satisfy the sweet tooth, we'll start of with this Affogato! There's the avocado one and also a tiramisu one. I chose the avocado one but it tasted kinda weird. The chocolate sprinkle you see on the ice cream, I don't really know what it was but it kinda tasted like brewed tea leaves. Other than that it tasted okay, just can't take that disturbing sprinkles!
WAFFLE
Original (30K)
Chocolate (35K)
Strawberry (35K)
Hazelnut (35K)
When it comes to something sweet for breakfast, waffle is never left out of the options! Waking up to the smell of cooking waffles is always my type of morning! I chose this universally loved chocolate topping out of all other toppings you can choose from. Out of all the desserts here, this was my favorite! It's simple but packs a punch! The warm crispy waffle with chocolate syrup and a little bit of cheese on top, mixed with a delicious chocolate ice cream!! Heaven!
THE CARNIVOR APPLE CRUMBLE IDR 35K
A nice caramelized apple with crumbles and vanilla ice cream. The apples was a bit undercooked though, since I like it better if the warm apple were soft and mushy to get that perfect mix of texture when you eat it with the crumbles and ice cream. Can you imagine the party that'll happen in your mouth?
BREAD PUDDING IDR 32K
Warm oven baked bread with raisin served with a scoop of ice cream.
This is the highlight of today's dessert! Slices of Baguette soaked with condensed milk, so it's super sweet and soggy. Better eaten while still warm and add some ice cream to have that crashed temperature that'll just explode beautifully in your mouth! I'm even craving for this as I'm writing it!!
By the way, they now uses iPad for the menu! Don't you just love how technology is improving nowadays? Carnivor has few outlets, like at Sunter and Kelapa Gading, most located in North Jakarta. Well, I do hope they consider West Jakarta as their next branch! :P Thank you Mr. Adriantomo and Mr. Ridwan as the managing director from Carnivor PIK for the great food and experience!
