KATSUTOKU PLAZA SENAYAN

Hey all, welcome back to our blog! Today we're gonna tell you about a Japanese restaurant with the best Katsu in town, it's Katsutoku! Of course, that's in our opinion but hey, maybe you guys have the same taste? This is actually not a new restaurant located at Plaza Senayan and even though it doesn't get that much exposure from Instagramer and all that, it is still super crowded. Definitely shows that the quality of this place is the best!

It's finally March! Why are we excited you ask? Well, because in this month, we'll be going on a lot of vacations! Yes, not just one trip, but several, check out our instagram if you're interested in following us on our holidays. That's our quick heads-up, so now let's get back to business. Today we'll be sharing about Ginzamaru, which used to be where Sumibian was at Pantai Indah Kapuk. Don't really know if the owner is still the same or not but they both have grills and Ginzamaru here has more Japanese foods. If you still have no idea where this is, it's in line with PIK's market!

FUKURO DINING & BAR

Before we start, I want to deeply apologize for the low quality photos. I know that the color's off and there's noise everywhere, since the place is super dark and my camera wasn't able to keep up..especially cause where I was sitting, there's this neon disco light that keeps on appearing and disappearing! Nonetheless, excuses are excuses, so I'm really sorry! :')

We went here at dinner time, though Fukuro is open from noon and at night, the place is more of a bar than a restaurant. I bet the ambiance would've been way different at noon and with better lighting as well!

Located next to Tori-ya in SCBD, the place is really classy and expensive looking, I could say that it's a semi fine dining! Bad news is the whole place is a smoking room, be ready to go home with hair smelling like tobacco everybody! Anyways, there's a collection of these robot teddy bears that if I remember correctly is pretty expensive but I totally forgot what it's called!

A perfect place for hanging out but not really suitable for a normal dining, more of a light bite kind of place, at least that's what I think!

Done with the front room, we're gonna enter the back room, behind that black tree thingy!

The back room is more of a lounge and a pretty one at that!

A bar is also present making it more of a hanging out kind of place! Lol!

MUGICHA IDR 40K
It's a caffeine-free barley tea and really popular in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine. If you're wondering how it taste, well, I personally think it's similar to black tea, which kinda made it way too overpriced!

ICE GREEN TEA LATTE IDR 45K
Rather than the Mugicha, I'd much prefer this green tea latte, especially since the price is not that different. The green tea latte was okay, though I'd prefer the green tea latte from Starbucks, since for an ice green tea, Starbucks is still leading for me!

SPICY MAPO SOY UDON IDR 80K
At first glance, I really thought it'll taste like curry but turns out, it tasted like udon with Malay's laksa soup, which isn't my favorite by the way, so you should pretty much have guessed that I don't like it. My friends all liked it though, so I guess it's actually good(?)

SPICY SHRIMP TEMPURA ROLL IDR 95K
Super like!!! I'd happily pay the price for this one! The shrimp was totally generous and it's topped with avocado that I don't really like but when it's combined into this, I could even say they turned out good! Thumbs up for this one!!

SPICY TUNA TEMPURA ROLL IDR 80K
The only difference is that instead of shrimp, they put some crunchy inside and Japanese cucumbers and it's also topped with the tuna, not avocado. I do think that the cucumbers were too much but the tuna was yummy!

TERIYAKI CHICKEN PIE IDR 60K (ORIGINAL)
Guess you could say this is a Japanese pizza..lol! The original one has 4 slices but there's also a jumbo one for IDR 120K, which is usually for sharing. This is my favorite menu out of all! It's super good, even though it's not thin, it's still crispy!! Yum! I'm willing to come back here just for this!

SAKE CARAFE 350ML IDR 400K
A senior of my friend works here and she generously treated us with this compliment sake! Yeah!! This is also my first time trying sake, I usually drink soju, so this is definitely an amazing opportunity! I think sake is tasteless but it could really heat up your throat and body! The cool thing is the taste of alcohol was really distinct! Thank you for your generosity!! :D

Fyi, Sake Carafe is what the chinaware is called, so the whole set of bottle and glass is called Sake Carafe!

HAKURYU JUNMAI DAIGINJO 1800ML IDR 6.000K
This is the sake we had in the Sake Carafe. Anybody interested in buying this bottle of sake? :p Yeah, it's way too expensive for me too..well, I've never seen a cheap sake anyways and I don't really understand about sake!

Had a great time and new experience here! Though I didn't have that many dishes, I still enjoy the foods I had! It's just that the ambiance really made me just want to have light bites, it's a good thing that we had sake to enjoy the night! I admit, having sake in a place like this would be perfect!

KOIKI EATERY

Lately some of my friends got into an accident and most of it was because of ignoring the traffic regulations, so please, do obey the traffic regulations, they're there for your own safety! If people start obeying the regulations more, the accident rate will definitely go down and then we can prevent any crying for the loss of someone dear! Realize that when there's an accident it's not only you whose life is at risk but also the ones involved in the accident. Sorry for bringing an off-topic but I just felt like getting it out of my chest!

Now, let's start with something less depressing! Had lunch with some of my fellow foodies last month (sorry for the very late post) at this classy Japanese restaurant, Koiki Eatery!

Located in the luxurious Senopati Suite, the interior is pretty simple with mostly wooden furniture and some Japanese decoration. It's not too spacey but it's a 2 story, which I think is good enough!

Let's start the feast!

Here, you can get a Japanese multi-course menu called Kaiseki for IDR 1.050K, prepared by chef Takaishi Akira. It consist of snack, appetizer, grilled dish, tsukuri, which is sashimi, main course and dessert. I didn't really try all of it, but I did get to try their wagyu shabu-shabu and just by the looks of it, you can clearly tell they're high-graded beef!

KOIKI SUSHI ROLL IDR 120K

I guess you can say that this is a pretty simple dish and yet, nothing beats the classic, I guess? Sushi filled with fresh salmon and tempura flakes is one of my favorites after all! Not only because I love salmon but also because the crunchy texture is a very satisfying addition!

BUFFALO ROLL IDR 120K
Here's something a bit different, sushi with aburi angus beef, asparagus, and shitake mushrooms! Yum! You can really taste the combination of high quality ingredients and it's just in perfect harmony, the fried garlic on top just gave it a bit of a crunch!

Here are some sushi that I didn't really get the chance to try but it all just looked too perfect to miss out!

Not only do they have the usual sushi that you can find in any other Japanese sushi restaurant, there're also some that I've never seen before! It really is too bad that I didn't get to try it! All looked really nice and fresh as well! :(

There's also a bento set of sashimi, which is actually more than enough for 1 person, don't you think?

KOIKI MATCHA FONDUE

Ending it with Koiki's special matcha fondue, which I find really adorable! A really handy fondue set, since the size is small and practical. The matcha was a bit lacking of matcha flavor, it's too much of a white chocolate that it's like green colored white chocolate, I do think they need to add more matcha flavor!

Got a bit of a problem with heating the fondue, since we're going to be in a air conditioned room, the candle used to heat the matcha might be too weak compared to the AC, alas that made it hard to melt the matcha, so they really need to look into that problem!

On the second floor, behind Koiki Eatery is this beautiful pool! We got to enjoy viewing the pool while we're here and like any normal people when they get together, what we do here was take a group photo! Well, I do love the pool and looking at it made me want to just jump in, if only it was possible! Maybe next time? :p
