Hello from the 67th floor! Did you know that The Westin Hotel here is currently the tallest building in Indonesia?! Yeap, not Jakarta only but the whole Indonesia! Cool, huh? Ranging to 69th floor, the restaurant we're going to talk about today is on the 67th. What's unique about this hotel is that the lobby is actually on the 52nd floor..why? Cause the 1st - 51st floor is an office tower named Gama Tower and if we count the hotel only, it actually has only 18 floors, so technically it's the tallest building with the help of the Gama Tower..lol!
Consider myself super lucky! Came here after a downpour cause a rainbow as the aftereffect and from where we stand, we can see it very clearly, right in front of us! Usually, we can only see them up upon the sky and it's also a rare occurring, so you can just imagine how happy and excited we are with this!
What we're going to highlight today is the fact that their Seasonal Tastes Westin Jakarta restaurant also serves contemporary Peruvian cuisine! The chef is called Chef Eduardo Montes and he's actually from Peru, though it's very unfortunate that this is only available on 2nd - 4th of May at dinner time, which is from 6:30 pm - 10 pm and costs IDR 740K++ for a 6 course!
Super pretty welcoming drink with actual flowers!
Here's Chef Eduardo getting ready for action! It's a wonderful opportunity for us to be able to taste the Peruvian cuisine made by him, an actual Peruvian!
Our first course is Peru's Ceviche!
Made of seabass and that white stuff below is called Tiger Milk Foam. Not literally tiger's milk but it's a mixture of things that we don't really know..lol! Just thought the name is cool!
Taste like eating sashimi with a sweet yogurt and few drops of red chili. Very unique and yet is still acceptable to Indonesian's taste!
Second course is Octopus Tiradito Al Olivo! Name's getting more unfamiliar here..lol!
The octopus is torched right in front of us and the purple sauce there is the Peruvian Olive Sauce. This one tastes pretty familiar, since octopus will still taste like octopus. The only difference is that yellow thing on top of the octopus, though I don't know what that is.. :|
Next is Arroz Con Pato! It's literally duck confit with rice below it, not just any rice though, it's Peruvian rice!
Amazingly tender duck confit, you can event pull out the bones easily! Usually some meat will get stuck on the bones but not this one!
The texture of Peruvian rice is a bit crunchier like Indian rice, like a half cooked rice but the chef said even Indonesian half cooked rice will still taste different then real Peruvian rice!
Who's ready for desserts?! Macaron De Suspiro A La Limena! The macaron here actually taste like that very famous brand that you could probably guess. Texture's similar, so it's definitely proper and just the way I like it!
What's inside this little cup is inedible, people! It's only to create that smoke effect haha, gotcha there!
Thanks chefs for the wonderful experience!
The restaurant uses glass wall all over, so you can get the whole view of being on the 67th floor! You'd feel that the other buildings are super small. Be aware that the heat of the sun will be a bit strong because of this tho!
There's also an outdoor here! Kinda confused as why when it rains, they didn't cover the sofas at all and just let them be soaked and it turns out that the sofa is water proof! Amazing! I wonder how much it costs? I'd like one at home please..lol!
