HARIO CAFE PLUIT

Yet another new collective space in Pluit is open!! Hario, the most prominent heatproof glass manufacturer from Japan has opened a... WAIT! HAHAHA so before I even start, I said what I said! Hario was originally a heatproof glass manufacturer who tried their fortune in producing syphon coffee maker... and the rest is history. Having become the most well known manual brewing coffee maker manufacturer, they opened their 2nd conceptual space of dine, drink, and shop. The 2nd store is located near to Pluit Village, which is already registered in your GPS! Their first store is located in Aeon Mall BSD, if you happen to wonder!


The shop aims to carry the style of Japanese modern heritage. Longing to deliver visitors 3 distinct experience in the store, which are flavor, presentation, as well as a space to belong, the concept that has already been opened in Tokyo, Japan has been leading on its own as a retailer that offers experience more than just a product.


As you would expect, Hario offers a wide demonstration of manual brewing method, starting from v60, syphon, to cold brew dip. Each customer is entitled to try various brewing method to find one that suits their personality best, so that they can carry the hobby at home. 



They are even pros not only in dealing with spros, but also in latte art!



Here's the syphon, which is some sort of magical pressure cooker with aesthetic visual pressure to the coffee extraction process!





As I mentioned before, they are open with the concept of retail shop in mind. Here's their retail beans, and they even have jewelry for sale!


Breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, non-coffee... They are their own specialty! Not something you'd expect from "just" a coffee retailer!

The refreshing Mocktail that combines mint and pomegranate in one chilled glass is indeed something special!


SOFT SERVE IDR 18K
It is written: 20% comfort, 25% warm heart, 25% happiness, 30% smile in the menu! Having a daily change of flavor, on the frame is salted caramel, while on another day my friend got chocolate hazelnut, not to mention my other visit when I got pistachio!


They strictly use cones than cup though. If you can eat your container, why bother eating from a paper cup?


Now let's talk about food!


MARINATED PULLED PORK BURGER IDR 85K
Idk why I have to start with complimenting their fried potato chips and this Japanese style burger that hoards katsuobushi, apple coleslaw, and pulled pork tastes just rightly filling!


YAKINIKU GLAZED SIRLOIN STEAK IDR 168K
The vegetable salad that covers the meat kinda gives the scare to carnivores, but in this one slice they cooked one part medium well, another well done. Harmoniously well made.


Sauce-less steak is the proof of the cook's audacity to trust in their own ingredients and skills!




BEEF YAKINIKU PAO IDR 65K
Same stuffs come with carbs!


HARIO FRIED RICE IDR 65K
I'm a sucker for comfort food, and a classic remake with a touch from Chef Jemmy Nugroho (St. Regis Hotel & Resort Bali and Vila Amelia in Italy, in case you wonder who he is), the specially made fried rice will just bring you to another moment of revelation!


Their consistency in giving Japanese touch is marked on the tamagoyaki, as well as gourmet tapioca crackers!



SOY MARINADE SALMON IDR 148k
Perfectly medium well, the sides compliment the main. Japanese is all about harmony.


GARLIC CHICKEN BOWL IDR 74K
glazed garlic chicken, pico de gallo (basically a mix of topping made of tomato, onion, and salsa-like combination you usually find in Mexican food), on top of garlic butter rice. It just doesn't go out of style! Also, double Ls are pronounced Y in Spanish. pee-ko de ga-yo.



MAPLE FRENCH TOAST IDR 68K
Here comes the champion! Topped with caramelized banana, crunch almond, butterscotch sauce, strawberry and soft swerved ice cream, served. Perfect. I'm at a loss for words, it's something you have to try by yourself!


The french toast texture is just there. Soft, yet crispy. Aromatic ith edible flowers, complete indulgence to the senses.



YUZU CREMEUX IDR 48K
It's a vanilla panna cotta, with kind of a pudding texture. The jiggly cremeux combined with refreshing yuzu is a playful performance!



The place is just spacious and private enough for you to not be heard (or overhear) by the other table!


When you get to meet the 2016 barista world champion, Tetsu Kasuya!
