TOM TOM

Another new amazing restaurant has opened in Grand Indonesia, actually I think it has opened months ago, February 2014 if I remember it correctly, cause it was a few weeks ago when we actually came here but we can only post it now, sooo sorry about the super late post. :(
When we came here, we're in the state of hunger and looking for a place where the portion is satisfying but not too pricey like buffets and BAM! that's how we ended up in Tom Tom and surprisingly, it's a Thai cuisine. After browsing it on Instagram, looking at the dishes they offer, we're definitely set on this place. It's also located on the 5th floor, like most of other foodie spots.

The interior is really simple and elegant, everything you see here just screams simplicity. Thailand's signature elephants are uniquely painted on the walls and other little cute decorations here and there. There's also an open kitchen where you can see the busy staffs preparing your dishes and the delicious aroma coming from it just makes your stomach grumble.

TOM YAM (CHICKEN) IDR 68K

Traditional Thai style hot and sour soup with lemongrass, kaffir lime and Thai chili paste.
There are two options; chicken and seafood, with a IDR 20K price difference. The first thought when I saw this was, it's HUGE! The portion might suffice for 3 people. I'm not a big fan of Tom Yam, but 'what is Thailand cuisine without it?', so when it came I thought 'How the heck are we gonna finish this?', but after tasting it, I was completely blown away. The taste is so rich, they don't just use some Tom Yam paste which I often find in most restaurants, even in Hotels, but they use actual herbs and spices that you can literally find in the soup. It's not too sour and not too bland, just perfect. It's also a bit spicy, so be careful for those who doesn't like spicy foods. There's also a generous amount of chicken meat in it. I bet all you Tom Yam lovers out there are gonna be really satisfied with this.

PLAMEK PAD PRIK KLEA IDR 60K
Thai Chinese style stir fry squid with mushrooms and bell pepper in black pepper sauce.
I personally like this dish! The squid is cooked perfectly, so it's not to tough to chew. Luckily, they don't fill the whole plate with a bunch of bell peppers, cause I'm not that fond of it. The squid is generously marinated in the black pepper sauce, each bite just leaves you wanting more! The small portion is certainly not enough for me!! I would even lick the plates if that was a decent thing to do.

HONEY GARLIC CRISPY CHICKEN IDR 50K
Crispy Chicken covered in honey garlic served with Crispy Basil.
Sweet and savory in one dish with perfect balance. The crispy chicken is best if you eat it while it's hot cause it'll get a bit tough once it turn cold. There's no overwhelming taste of garlic, so you don't have to worry, you won't scare off the vampires with this. Crispy basil is really something new to me, I never knew you can make basil leaves into something so good and I don't know how they fry it but it's not oily at all, amazing!

Well, this place just made it to the top list of my favorite Thai restaurants. I personally thought that the price is wallet friendly, considering the taste was AMAZING! The service was kind of okay-ish though, they made a mistake while taking our order, actually we ordered the Tom Yam fried rice, but because of a bit of a miscommunication, it became Tom Yam soup. No regrets though! Cause it's a fantastic soup! I'll be sure to come back here, if I have a craving for Thai foods.
