PARADISE DYNASTY - CHARMS OF SHANGHAI

Hey ho! So, we are back to Paradise Dynasty once again to try out their new menus!! Yay! We have written a review about this place before, and since there is no change for the place and interior, let's just get straight to the tasting! This time they offered us a taste of Shanghai. By the way, there's no price written here because the menus are still new and we were fortunate enough to be invited for some food tasting.

BLACK SALTED EGG BUNS
The opener is the killer salted egg buns! It's my most favorite dim sum menu ever! Some don't really like it in a course as the flavor is strong to the palate, but who could resist the temptation of melted salted egg mixed with butter and sugar inside a super soft bun? Just give in and let the taste of paradise bloom in your mouth!

FAMOUS SHANGHAINESE SPECIAL SOUP WITH PORK, BEAN CURD KNOTS, AND BAMBOO SHOOTS
It's a perfect Shanghai's signature soup, completed with bean curd skin, bamboo shoots, and paikut.
It's no exaggeration for them to name its own dish "famous". The dish itself is a classic signature of Shanghai origin, served with the local's favorite meat ingredient: pork. The toppings include Chinese bokchoy, pork belly, pork leg, bean curd skin, bamboo shoots. The soup was clear, and despite its seemingly plain presentation and somewhat tastes like miso, Chinese cuisine is always famous in producing high class harmony of mixed ingredients. This soup is no exception: exquisite! Fyi, they separated the soup only so that it's easier for us to take the photos.

I don't really know the name of this dish and kinda forgot to ask so I guess I'm just gonna tell you how it tastes. It's like a sticky rice cake sprinkled with icing sugar, a typical Chinese dessert. Sweet and chewy, I also personally think that it has a unique taste and texture and I like it.

SLICED BEAN CURD SKIN WITH PEPPERCORNS
Enjoy every slice of the bean curd skin with our signature wansui and peppercorns.
Another dish that I'm not used to order in a Chinese restaurant! Simmered bean curd skin with signature wansui and peppercorns. The taste of the peppercorns are just a bit spicy, not too overwhelming, the bean curd skin is clearly still the main act of the whole event! Love how each ingredient compliments each other to a blend of spicy, salty, with a hint of sweetness.

DEEP FRIED PRAWNS WITH CHEF'S SPECIAL SAUCE
Delicious fried shrimps served with tomato sauce, red chili and our chef's special sauce to make it perfect.
The chef's special sauce itself is a mix of red chili and tomato sauce with other complimenting ingredients to make it perfect: a classic Chinese dish that consist the taste of salty, spicy, sweet, and sour at the same time. Never gets old!

BRAISED YANG ZHOU MEATBALL
Our delicious and addictive braised Yang Zhou meatballs comes with Japanese mushrooms, cinnamon, and pak choi.
This is absolutely my personal favorite! served together with Japanese mushrooms, cinnamon, and pak choi, it's a totally addictive pork meatballs that could actually make your tongue dance! Served the usual Chinese style: oyster sauce backed up with the aroma of mixed vegetables. I love how they innovate all of the simple dishes with different ingredients by still pulling it off with such great taste. Hands down for this dish!

There you go! This place is definitely worth a re-visit even if you had tasted other menus before. Fantastic execution on preserving Chinese heritage cuisine that lives up to its name: Paradise Dynasty!
