BOURBON EATERY & COFFEE

Well, well, well, it's time to get out of town once in a while! I was a bit bored of what Jakarta has to offer (more accurately, sick of its traffic!), aaandd...one of the perks of living in the most west area of Jakarta means it only takes me around 20mins drive to get to Banten, Tangerang! It's developing rapidly nowadays, as you've seen that there have been restaurants worthy enough to be reviewed at Serpong, like IntroJazz! This one is located at Mall @ Alam Sutera, ground floor, which you can easily find near the lobby. Now let's get started!

Not really getting the philosophy behind this picture, but it's cute so... it's worth taking a shot! A footnote though, it's a bit confusing that an eatery and cafe would take Bourbon as its name, since it's a name of liquor drink! (and no, they don't serve a glass of bourbon here!)

Here's pretty much the space! Many couches with a spacious outdoor smoking area that overlooks the grand Alam Sutera view. Came at dinner time though, so sorry that I can't give you a perfect view!

The bar, where the nowadays' popular concept is present, it's good because it never bores me out.

Saw this right before we got seated! ...Ovomaltine cake?! When we were seated that's what I tried to order but boo, it was out! Bummer...better luck another time!

Totally love this! It makes the place felt so homey somehow, in an indescribable way.

CAPPUCINO IDR 29K

It's dinner and we ordered some coffee, in fact, two of them! Thanks to their limited buy 1 get 1 promo everyday (get it while it lasts!) I managed to get this one. As a non-specialty grade coffee provider, this cup tasted decent. Worth the value, but not that good as well to be honest.

CAFE LATTE IDR 29K

Literally translating it from Italian: coffee with milk. tastes a bit better than the cappuccino as this one was smoother, but the coffee blend was too simple. Didn't wow me, but since there is still too little amount of places who serve good coffee, this place would be my coffee destination at this mall. Yep, not a fan of Starbucks.

NAUGHTY FRIES IDR 42K

Now this is what naughty is all about! Fries combined with golden fried onion rings with overflowing crunchiness and creamy, savory honey mustard! Yumm...so tasty, crunchy, naughty! Great works with the crispiness and saltiness and also the sauce. Blended really well with each other and at a good portion as well. Good for two!

SCRAMBLED EGG MUFFIN WITH SMOKED SALMON IDR 52K

I know, I know. Visually speaking, this one certainly looks failing. So thinly cut and dry looking salmon that makes you expect nothing much. But let me tell you, the cook has saved it by the bell. The rest of the ingredients were done fine! Perfectly scrambled egg and one of the most chewy french bread. So well seasoned that you can eat them without the salmon because it was so bad.

OLD SCHOOL FISH & CHIP IDR 65K

One of 'em classics. Ordered this one for a safer choice and it came true! Tastes good, this one rarely fails me! Crunchy and well seasoned, that pretty much settles everything. Same goes with the fried and battered baby potatoes! All of them are savory and crunchy. Old school perfection!

PONTIANAK CRAB NOODLE IDR 42K

Well I ordered this one out of curiosity and..wasn't too impressed. I mean, it tasted good, but a restaurant's noodle dish is really no match to the actual street food noodles! Lacking in body and flavor, this one is clean-tasting but not naughty enough!

SPAGHETTI SEAFOOD AGLIO OLIO IDR 55K
One of the safest picks again. Can't blame me though, they don't have many varieties with the pasta other than the classics: olive oil, carbonara, bolognaise.. So I'll start with my favorite and wasn't disappointed at all! Pasta was cooked al dente, prawns were fresh and seasonings were perfect in my opinion. I love that the saltiness harmonized the whole plate with still a tiny hint of spiciness in it.

Here's our feast! For a party of three, this was crazy!!

MANJARI GODIVA IDR 45K

Disappointed with the absence of Ovomaltine cake, this is what I ordered! The name sounds pretty appealing, don't you think? Unfortunately, this was... totally inedible. Too dry and hard, it just couldn't make it. Such a letdown. 

ORANGE GRENADINE IDR 35K

This one's so refreshing! A bit to the sweet side, it was one of the best refreshments I've ever tasted. Right amount of sugars and syrup, blended with tangy taste of orange that would make your day bright!

NUTELLA BABYCINNO IDR 38K
My favorite! The flavor of nutella was real and it was also creamy enough. It's like having a melted nutella, chilled. I love how perfect the texture is and that the nutella can have the main stage in the whole glass.

Fyi, I don't know 'till when, but right now they have a daily buy 1 get 1 coffee and 20% discount for foods on weekdays!

That's it folks! If you were to ask me, this one was quite a pleasant visit even though it wasn't really an extraordinary one. But hey, if you're looking for a casual meal and hangout place, this is still one of the good destinations in Serpong!
