TREDICI RISTORANTE

Buon pomeriggio! We decided to have a good Italian lunch with some friends that is newly opened at Senopati area; yep, the hippest, ever growing culinary destination! For such a small area where the traffic is jam-packed almost all day on weekdays, it surely lacks Italian touch. So with this red brick and wooden, rustic place, aren't you convinced enough?

A proof that they're new: congratulatory flowers from loved ones!

Rustic details, Italian is all about tradition, and they're doing it well!

I love that they have separate areas of seats. Here is the one near the entrance: simple, neat, and well lighted. It gives the vibe of a Sicilian traditional houses with the combination of wooden furnishings and clean white walls with big windows!

Details, details. All of these might look simple to you, but the simpleness of a house is what makes a trattoria ristorante like this looks authentic!

Here's the inner part that looks more like a private dining room. It really was, though! This is the VIP section where you can have a private meeting or meal with your dearest ones!

Replacing your vintage record posters or some famous paintings, you've got a mini guide of Italian vegetables mainly used for its cuisine!

Also, a mini-dictionary for its kitchen utensils and pastas!

And here's where we were seated! Taking a concept of actually entering a Sicilian house, we got right to their backyard!

Love the walls and the setting. Perfectly made as if you were in the streets of a European village. Hey, one can dream!

CRUSHED STRAWBERRY SNOW IDR 35K
Fresh strawberries, muddled with strawberry syrup, ½ and ½, soda.

The best companion to a fiery hot day! I love how refreshing it tasted as it has a perfect balance of sour and sweet. Not a big fan of soda but this one's good! I love that they use an appropriate amount of soda that didn't sting my palate. Great choice for the afternoon lunch!

GELATO (2 SCOOPS) IDR 35K
Your own choice of flavours.

TERRONE & STRACIATELLA
They got lots of flavors you can choose from the display! Enjoy some testers before proving that the flavor is into your liking! But let me tell you, every flavor packs a kick you could hardly forget!

CAPRESE IDR 68K
Mozzarella cheese, tomato, oregano, black pepper, balsamic modena vinegar.

I know, I know. At the first glance, this doesn't really look salad-like. But to an Italian, tomato is enough to be made salad, and let me tell you, this is a perfection on a plate. A tip for you: eat both the tomato and mozzarella at the same time (don't forget to dip in the balsamic vinegar) and you'll know how lovely it tastes! Amazing, rich, and elegant. It has the refreshing sweet and sour taste of the freshest tomatoes, and the richness that comes from the mozzarella is backed up by the seasonings.

RISOTTO ALLA SCOGLIO IDR 78K
Risotto, mussels, clams, shrimps, squid, cooked in white wine and fish stock.

This one was quite good! A bit too moist though, but the flavor was fantastic! Love the mix of seasonings and herbs in it and as well as aroma of the seafood. Might be too strong if you don't like smelly food though, but this one pulled it off. Loved the squid and clams!

GNOCCHI VALLE D'AOSTA IDR 85K
Potato dumplings, ham, shiitake mushroom cream sauce, fantina cheese.

The winner of today would be this plate of simple gnocchi! Simply served with ham, mushroom, and sliced fantina cheese, it gives you the perfect taste of savory, full of taste gnocchi! The taste was so great and memorable that while I'm writing this it reminds me of the whole palate. Might not be the most photogenic dish but you can never compromise about taste! It's like an orchestra of taste. Try every ingredient in one bite and you'll get what I'm saying. Nothing kills the other, the harmony in the plate was succulent.

PAPPARDELLE A CASERECCIA IDR 72K
Pappardelle pasta, green peas, mushrooms, Italian pork sausage, tomato sauce, dash of cream.

Not one of my cup of tea, too sour to my liking but this might be subjective because I'm not a big fan of tomato based pasta myself. It's actually perfect if you could eat it together with the great parmesan, but the amount of parmesan isn't enough to eat the whole plate! Nevertheless, it's a great mix of flavor given that everything is eaten together in one bite (that's how you should have it!).

SALMONE AL CIPOLLOTTO IDR 118K
Norwegian salmon, spring onions, tomato herbs ragout, grilled tomato, sauteed season vegetables, butter potato.

Expect no less than a perfectly grilled salmon: pink on the inside, tender and chewy that's so well-seasoned with simple salt and pepper. The gravy escalated the salmon as it had good aroma and a little hint of spicy flavor. You can also see that the tomato herbs looked really fresh: their cooking a real deal here!

LONZA DI MAJALE PIZZAIOLA IDR 96K
Pork loin, pan fried with white wine, tomato oregano, black olives, capers, potato gratin, butter spinach.

Perfectly cooked pork loin that melts in your mouth! Again, not a big fan of tomato sauce but the aroma that emanates from the white wine reduction blends well with the overall taste of the meat itself: tender, flavorful, and salty that goes in harmony with the tomato sauce. It might not taste really familiar to the Asian palate but if you're up for something a bit adventurous, this is it!

Here's the carb portion! A mini puff pastry topped with grated parmesan cheese. Lovely!

Notice the 13 Monkeys sign? Also with the thirteen (Tredici is Italian word for thirteen, btw), well, that's because they're from the same group in the same building!

13 Monkeys is a cocktail house on the second floor. Yeap! This is what it looks like, pretty cool, huh?

I'm pretty satisfied with the foods they served, since they've proven themselves that they're not just selling interiors, like the trend that seems to be going on nowadays. One thing that kinda blew me away was the hotel-like-service! The price was reasonable for this kind of ambiance, taste, and service! Amazing job, keep up the good work!
