NICHI YOBI AT ASUKA JW MARRIOTT JAKARTA

Hope you're ready for some classy high quality Japanese dining, cause we got an amazing chance to try a Japanese restaurant at JW Marriott called Asuka Japanese Dining! Asuka here used to only serve a la carte but just this month, they've created a buffet Sunday sake lunch called Nichi Yobi and that is what we're going to try!

Though their space is not that big, the interior is very Japanese. They even have a tatami room, which I was so tempted to sit at but chose the one near the window instead..as usual, we need the light! xD Definitely distracted by these super fresh looking sashimi!

Don't be surprised when we tell you that this Nichi Yobi buffet costs IDR 888K++ per person! Well, it is a Sunday 'Sake' lunch and alcohol comes with a price..lol!

You'll get a cocktail made of sake and I think it's different each week. What we got here is something with cucumber that I definitely forgot the name, nevertheless is actually refreshing with a sweet taste!

Their Wakame Salad's totally fresh and the sesame dressing is just heavenly!

Shake Maki is a must!

Here's where we got a bit confused. If you look at the menu, there's definitely only 2 selection of maki and 2 temaki, which we just said to the waiter to bring out every one of the rolls. Turns out we got more variety than we expected and we don't know why or how!

Aburi Salmon is life! Actually, Aburi anything is life..lol!

Ura Temaki, California Hand Roll.

Hotate Temaki, Scallop Hand Roll.

They got 3 different Okonomiyaki; Original, Niku, and what we got, Kaisen, which is seafood. Yes, it's not a full circle Okonomiyaki and actually just 3 slices per portion. It's to reduce the leftovers, though you will get charged for leftovers, so this is actually to help us (customers) out!

Yummy crispy Ebi Tempura!

Never tried Sakana Tempura before! Usually it's only ebi and vegetable tempura but they actually have fish tempura and it actually taste okay!

Shio and Tare Yakitori to suit your taste!

The chicken is super tender!

We also tried both of their curry bowl, which are Ebi Furai Kare and Tori Katsu Kare. Don't worry about being too full cause each portion of this is very small, it's like a kids meal!

They also have some specials of the day, so be sure to ask the waiter for it, since it won't be written in the menu as it changes each week! We got this wonderful pan fried salmon, which is super good!

And also this steak! Got it on a medium for extra tenderness and juice!

Heavenly redness!

For dessert, the theme is Matcha. Got both the Matcha Ice Cream..

..and Matcha Cheese Cake, which we both agreed will be so much better if they just combined the two..lol!

Here's the tatami room I told you about. It's in a separated room, so I guess it's more private?

The price might have taken you aback but it's because they use high quality ingredients and you can definitely tell from the freshness of the sashimi and everything. Though somehow, I'd prefer eating the a la carte, since the buffet menu is pretty limited, especially their sushi and sashimi section, which is what I usually go for in a Japanese buffet!
