GOPEK INDONESIAN PERANAKAN STREET FOOD

Yet again, Sarirasa group has made another invention to boost our local cuisine! This time it's a peranakan cuisine, which is a mix of Indonesian and Chinese cuisine. The place is called Gopek and it's in Grand Indonesia's Sky Bridge, on the 5th floor!

Now the name Gopek here is just as you might have guessed, it's from Indonesian's money IDR 500. Why they choose Gopek and not other nominal is because Gopek is the only nominal that almost everyone use. I find it very rare for someone to call Gopek with 500 rupiahs! Yeap, that is why, it's to show that this restaurant is also meant for everyone in our Bhinneka Tunggal Ika country!

The interior is a pretty simple street restaurant kind of feel, with it's small bar in the middle. It somehow remind me of a ramen house..lol!

Here's the temporary menu as they've not opened yet. They will be open on the 8th of August this year! Yeap, it's just a week away and their real menu is meant to look like a calendar, just wait and see!

A glimpse of what we're gonna try, though I didn't try the whole thing!

LUMPIA GORENG IDR 35K
This is actually like the lumpia that is not fried, since it's not crunchy. Pretty standard for me, maybe it'd be better if it's crunchy? They also have the lumpia that is not fried by the way!

RUJAK JUHI IDR 45K
This is a very traditional snack! Usually eaten by our moms..lol! Inside are egg noodle and veggies with a sweet and sour sauce. I think it's something that a pregnant women would like? It's not served warm, so it's supposed to be served on room temperature and I personally like this!

BAKSO SENGKEL IDR 52K
It's filled with beef, chicken, tofu, beef shank, all made into meatballs and added glass noodle! It will be served just like this, with that black tray complete with soy and chili sauce, minus the hamper behind, kay!

The meatballs are pretty good, though I didn't get to try the beef shank..sad!

MIE BAKSO PANGSIT IDR 65K
Others say that they find this a bit bland but I don't really know why I find this actually okay? Can you believe it? Me, someone who loves strong flavors actually liked this when everybody else said it's bland..lol! But it actually is light but not bland at all and you need to stir it quick before the noodle stick together!

NASI CAMPUR GOPEK IDR 47K
This is a halal version of Nasi Campur, people! Yes, no pork whatsoever but it's all replaced with chicken and beef. It might look like pork but everything in Gopek is actually halal, since Sarirasa group's cuisine is always a local and always halal!

This is also good! No complaints here. They used honeyed beef, red chicken, beef stew and egg to make it look like actual Nasi Campur!

BAKWAN BAKSO IDR 52K
The soup base is the same as Bakso Sengkel one. A bowl of this is filled with various things, like bakwan, fried meatballs, shiomay, beef meatballs, chicken meatballs, and fried tofu meatballs, and more! All taste very homey but delicious. Fyi, I find the glass noodles unlike the one you find in street foods but like from the instant Super Bihun..lol! I still like it tho!

Here are the desserts that I unfortunately didn't get to try as I was in a hurry. So sad!! :( It all looks interesting tho and very traditional too!

KOLAK UBI IDR 28K
Ubi ungu & orange, bubur kacang, kacang hijau, kolang kaling, tape, santen, gula cendol, kacang gepuk.

BUBUR TALAS IDR 28K
Bubur taro, taro, ketan hijau, ketan hitam, tape, singkong, santan, kelapa sangrai hijau.

ES DAWET AYU IDR 38K
Nangka, dawet, bubur taro, tape singkong, tape ketan hitam, bengkoang selasih.

ES KACANG

TEBU BARLEY LEMON JUICE IDR 30K

Be sure to mark your date all! It's opening on 8th August 2017! We hope you the best of luck Gopek and Sarirasa group in boosting up our local cuisine!
