MAMAK RESTAURANT BALI

Hello guys! This is the 3rd Bali restaurant we've reviewed, though actually we went to Bali pretty often..lol! You can check out all our updates in Bali on Istagram with #lulabyspoonbali and did you know that you can follow a hashtag now? No, I'm not implying anything..lol! :p

We're gonna talk about the restaurant that is a big hit in Australia called Mamak Restaurant! It's said that in Australia, the queue is super long here, there's even a black and white photo of the queue in the Bali's Mamak! The cuisine is Malaysian, so expect Mee Goreng, Curry, Roti Canai, and Nasi Lemak. What surprised me is the price! Everything is below IDR 100K, how affordable for a famous restaurant!

This is the map to Mamak, be sure to note that you can't park in front of the restaurant cause there's not parking space, only for motorcycle. You can park in Seminya Square though, it'll only take a 5 minutes walk from there!

The restaurant is pretty simple, not too big nor small. Went here on a day just before they're open for public, thank you so much Mamak and Balifoodies for this awesome opportunity!

This is the queue in Australia that I told you about before!

Their signature color is red and you'll find red everywhere! The kitchen is located at the entrance, like a typical traditional Chinese restaurant, at the back is where the drinks are.

LIMAU AIS IDR 30K
Does Ais mean Ice? Lol! This is super refreshing by the way!

TEH AIS IDR 30K
This is actually Teh Tarik and it's really made the traditional way. They really did the tea pulling stunts and everything! Really recommend this, just the right amount of sweetness!

NASI GORENG IDR 56K
An authentic Malaysian-styled fried rice. Made with spicy sambal, eggs, prawns, french beans, and assorted veggies. I guess this one is just okay-ish but the portion is pretty big. Personally, I think this is enough for 2!

ROJAK IDR 60K
Malaysian's salad..lol! It's sort of similar to our Gado-Gado cause it also uses peanut sauce and all. Inside this is tofu, egg, cucumber, and yambean topped with something like Bakwan Udang or Bala Bala.

Here's the closer look!

NASI LEMAK IDR 42K
The looks of Nasi Lemak really is like a template of this, simple and looks like there's more rice than topping but in actually the rice and topping is really in perfect balance. The topping has a really strong flavor, which is what makes it so good!

Oh and by the way, the Prawn Sambal there is an add-on and costs IDR 18K, so it's not included in the Nasi Lemak IDR 42K package there!

MEE GORENG / MAGGI GORENG IDR 56K
So there are 2 types of noodles here. The difference between the 2 is that 1 is more like instant noodles, taste are similar though. I personally like the instant noodle one more..lol!

KARI AYAM IDR 68K
They have 4 types of curry here; chicken, fish, lamb, and veggies. I went with chicken and with different topping, the curry is also different. The lamb one is more oily and flavorful, though I didn't try the lamb one. It's the perfect company for a nice warm rice!

CHICKEN BEEF SATAY (12PCS) IDR 80K
You can also get this in half portion for IDR 48K. The satay here is already flavorful even without having to dip it in the sauce! The chicken has this curry taste, while the beef has a soy sauce sweet taste. Both are super gewd!

AYAM BEREMPAH IDR 68K
Even before we start eating, our Balifoodies friends have kept saying that this one is the best and it's proven right! We even got 2 portions of this, since it's just so good! The thigh and breast are both super tender and cooked perfectly. The spices they use are more like curry and I love it a lot!

MURTABAK LAMB IDR 56K
For this one, the staff already warned us that it takes a long time, like 15 minutes or so. The murtabak is actually good with all the onions there. Too bad the lamb kinda smells to the point that I can't take it.

ROTI TISU IDR 48K

ROTI PISANG IDR 38K
You all know that we're not a fan of bananas, right? Well, this one caught our hearts cause the banana taste is not that strong and kinda overlapped by the sweetness of the bread..lol! I'm guessing they use milk, butter, and condensed milk here! Yum!

And that's what we had! Don't worry there are a lot of us, we're not that strong of an eater..lol! Overall it was a satisfying meal, other than the fact that it's affordable, the taste is actually above the price, just the way I love it! Congratulations @mamakrestaurant!
