SCHOOL FOOD AEON JAKARTA GARDEN CITY

First time stepping foot on AEON JGC (Jakarta Garden City)! Well, it's no wonder as this area is way off the map for us who lives in the West. It's almost 50km away, like half way to Bandung, can you believe that?! Lol! I guess it's a good once in a while, going to places that we don't usually go. The mall is still new and super clean with public seats everywhere, so you can just hang at the seats without having to go into a restaurant first, which is very needed for me! Even the toilets are superb. There's also a ferris wheel here, which everyone thought it was at AEON BSD but too bad, it's not. The restaurants and stores here are pretty much similar with the BSD, though not exactly the same. Well, that's just a quick info on AEON JGC, but what we're gonna talk about today is actually School Food!

School Food here actually goes way back, it's been here even before we've started blogging! There was one at Central Park but it closed down and now we can only find it at far off places like AEON JGC here!

MASIZZIM INDONESIA

I think Masizzim here is an International worldwide brand, is it not? Because when I checked their Instagram, the one that came up are Masizzim Singapore or Thailand or others. Now they have decided to open a branch in Indonesia, more specifically at Pantai Indah Kapuk! It's at the ruko at the left side of the toll road from Puri.

HWANG GEUM BAB SANG KELAPA GADING

This is a restaurant that probably not many knows, even I didn't know about this if it isn't for Alex from Eatfolks! Guess it's because the location is pretty hidden, which is in Gading Batavia building at Kelapa Gading. If you're familiar with Kelapa Gading area then you would recognize this building as KTC. The only thing that is still alive here is only the Hypermart, even some of my friends who lives in the area didn't know about this restaurant called Hwang Geum Bab Sang!

NOKCHA CAFE PIK

Yet another new member has arrived at Pantai Indah Kapuk called Nokcha! Found this from Ivy and because I don't have any other idea of what to try at PIK, so Nokcha it is. Came here when they still have a soft opening promotion, which is 20%!

RAFFE RAMYEON HOUSE MUARA KARANG

Hello Muara Karang! Hello Samyang Lovers! Yeap, this is a post for those people, it's a newly opened ramyeon house at Muara Karang called Raffe Ramyeon. Still freshly opened, like a week or 2 and I immediately knew about this place because my friend is the interior designer for the place!

MR. PARK SCBD

If you're a fan of Korean foods, then you might be familiar with this place called Mr. Park. Either that or you often visit Grand Indonesia's food court..lol! This here is also called Mr. Park but the one at Grand Indonesia is more of its casual dining, like BornGa Express!

BUMBU SATU KOREAN RESTAURANT

Looking for something authentic? Then you've come to the right place! Nope, it's not an Indonesian restaurant and yes, I know you're confused now but trust me, the foods are all authentic Korean! We came here on random impulse, since the appointment we had before at Senopati was cancelled 'one-sided'ly (not a word, I know) and we were too hungry to think or go anywhere far, so we just went to any place that piques our interest, which apparently was Bumbu Satu or Seorak Chuoetang!

Love how the interior looks very posh, well, oriental kind of posh that is. Not only that but also all the greens, totally made the place livelier! Really didn't expect this kind of place from the outside, so it was a total surprise to us!

After seeing how posh the place looks, we thought that it was gonna be hell'a expensive! Plus, the service here is excellent and even though this isn't a newly opened restaurant, the owner (I just assume he's the owner, since he's an actual Korean and looks like the boss) still monitors the place!

JOK BAL IDR 280K
Okay, I know the price might give you a bit of a shock, especially when the whole menu's price range is like this one, we were too. Turns out, the price is definitely worth it, since the portion is huge! Definitely a sharing portion, this here is probably enough for 3-4 people!

Not only is the portion satisfying, the taste is also superb! It's very well-seasoned, yet you can still taste the natural pork taste, just absolutely perfect! This was my first time trying Jok Bal, which is pig's trotters/feet and it surely left me with a great impression!

PPYEO DA GUI HAE JANG GUK IDR 95K
Also known as spicy pork bone soup. Yeap, it's another pork dish! I'm really impressed by how fair they are with the pricing, since this one is another good value. Might not be as big of a portion as the Jok Bal but still share-worthy!

It might be a pork bone soup but there's still plenty of meat on the bone that you can share and enjoy! You really don't need to doubt the taste for all the dish here, cause they're all amazing. I haven't try all of them but I have a feeling that anything I choose will taste delicious!

Yes, we only need to order those 2 dishes for a group of 3 and we definitely left with a full tummy! We even only need 1 bowl of rice, which is a complimentary if you order the soup, so you get why we kept emphasizing on the shareable point! I'd love to come back here and try their other dishes, preferably pork dishes..lol!

JJANG NOODLE & GRILL

So this is something that you could call a hidden gem, seeing as not many knows about the place even though they're dishes taste amazing! It's even more surprising as they're located at the ever so crowded Senopati but I've almost never seen anyone post about this place, it's called Jjang!

Jjang here is located at the upper floor of Kambing Bakar Kairo and I know this is out of topic but upon entering the building you'll be highly tempted by the sweet smelling of Kambing Bakar! Be warned..lol!

Like any other Korean restaurant, Jjang also have their own kimchi and it's packaged inside this jar and will only be taken from the fridge when a customer comes, so that it's still cold! Too bad I didn't try it though!

DAK KANG JHON IDR 49K
Sweet and sour chicken.

I've always love a good sweet and sour sauce and this one is definitely yummy! Don't worry about the redness though, cause it's not spicy at all! This is somewhat like karaage covered with sweet and sour sauce, which is actually very popular amongst Korean cuisine. It's good with a reasonable price, yeap, a definite two thumbs up!

KIMBAB IDR 39K
Rolled rice with vegetables and beef.

A Korean version of sushi! The difference between kimbab and sushi is that kimbab will usually be filled with cooked ingredients and the rice is usually less mushy, so don't be surprised if it's more textured than sushi! I like this though, yet I'd still choose sushi over kimbab but that's just a matter of preference!

What I like about this is definitely the beef and even though I'm not a veggie person, it's not perfect if you don't eat the whole thing! There's also a sauce for this, it's not soyu but some red colored liquid that I don't know what. I'd prefer without it though, since it smells like medicine!

JJANGMYEON IDR 49K
Black bean sauce noodle with beef and seafood.

Hmm..well, if it's about Jjangmyeon, I still prefer the ones at Legend of Noodle. The downside of the Legend of Noodle's is that they're not as photogenic as this one! Actually, it's not that this one is bad, it's still good, just that the flavor's not that strong and there's barely any meat, so once you've tasted the Legend of Noodle's, this totally lose!

Be sure to mix it all up nicely for the best taste you can get!

PHA JEON IDR 49K
Beef and seafood pancake.

Totally the highlight of today's meal!! Even though it's only egg with beef and seafood but they could cooked it in such way that it's super good!! Who doesn't like a good egg with seafood??

It also smelt super good upon arriving!

There's a reason why we called this a hidden gem! All the foods we had were super delicious, except for the Jjangmyeon but I guess that's because we've tried the Jjangmyeon at Legend of Noodle!

JJIGAE HOUSE

Annyeong!! We've finally moved on from Japanese to Korea..lol! This place is called Jjigae House and from the name you can probably figure out that they focus on Korean stews instead of grilled foods. Located at Muara Karang, near Sun Merry Bakery, it's not too big but I feel that the interior really gives off a family restaurant impression!

Like I said before, this place is for jjigae, so you won't find any grilled menu here! Their menu choices are also limited, since they only focus on jjigae and dakgalbi, the rest are just drinks and appetizers. These below are their banchan, be warned that there'll be extra charges if you want to get more of these!

TTEOKBOKKI IDR 26K
Here, they only have like 5 appetizers and this is one of them. I do admit that I was a bit lured in by the price but that's because the portion's not that big, just enough for 1 person. Tasted great though, love the bouncy texture of the tteokbokki and that the sauce was not overly spicy!

DAKGANGJEONG IDR 26K
I think this was super yummy! Even if the color's not that appetizing, the taste said otherwise. Crispy skin and tender meat covered in a sweet glaze! Superb!! Too many might get you overwhelmed though!

JJIGAE
Ta-dah!! This is their signature menu! So they have various choices of soup; kimchi, chicken and beef, plus the portion's HUGE! Don't worry though, they also offer a portion for individual and 2 people! The one we ordered is for 4-6 people, which explains the huge portion!

In the jjigae, you'll get all these veggies and meat. You can choose the meat, there's chicken, beef, prime beef, pork, seafood or vegetarian. We, of course, chose the pork!! Lol!

You can also order some add-on if you think this isn't enough, highly doubt it though! :p The soup we got was the kimchi, which is also the most affordable! For this Pork Kimchi Jjigae, it only cost IDR 164K!

At first, when the soup was poured, it'll look really clear but the more it got boiled, the thicker the soup'll get and I can already imagine how flavorful it'll be! Yum!!

The waiter recommended us to get a ramen add-on, so we did and it was AWESOME! Just imagine having this jjigae with ramen in a cold night! Drool!!

DAKGALBI
For this, they have a set for 2 that costs IDR 56K and set for 4 that costs IDR 76K. Personally, I think this is really affordable! Just look at the size of it! Dakgalbi is a dish that consisted of veggies and stir fried chicken and that's exactly what's inside! The color might look intimidating but trust me, it's not spicy at all!

They also recommend having this with ramen and again, it's amazing! Love the tteokbokki and cheese!!

I think overall, it was a great experience! The foods great and the price is reasonable! Can't wait to go back and try the other jjigae choices! :D
