WAKI BBQ JAKARTA

Woohoo! Say hello to the new barbecue shop in town, Waki BBQ! This is supposed to be a Japanese BBQ but it somewhat has Korean dishes as well. It's located at Thamrin area near UOB Plaza, just hit it up in your GPS!

The place looks like any other typical barbecue restaurant with a touch of Japanese vibe.

It's also pretty spacey with tables for various groups of people.

Personally find this area super cool with its wall of rocks..lol!

ASSORTED KIMCHI IDR 39K
ASSORTED NAMUL IDR 39K
The cabbage and white radish is super good as it's very well seasoned. The namul is also good with its special Korean sesame oil. These 2 are perfect sides to go with all the meats we're gonna have!

TONGUE IDR 59K
The seasoning for this is only salt and sesame oil. Don't really need the lemon cause it doesn't smell at all! Price is also very affordable.

Yummy goodness!

JYO TONGUE IDR 119K
The slices here is not as thin as the tongue before and has less pieces as well. Both taste pretty similar tho cause the seasoning is the same, so this is just like the thicker version of the tongue.

TOKUJYO TONGUE (THICK CUT) IDR 219K
An even thicker version of the tongue..lol! The cutting is also different to ensure it's evenly cooked. This one is limited by the way, so it's not always available! Better get it when it is!

The shape is definitely unlike the usual tongue, so for those who's not brave enough to eat tongue can try this instead!

KALBI IDR 49K
This is a sliced beef shortplate. It may be the cheapest kalbi here but it's already super good! There's a little bit of fat in this to make it extra tender, yumz!

JYO KALBI IDR 89K
A sliced beef striploin and the level 2 of their kalbi, so of course the price is also doubled. The slices are also thicker and wider!

The BBQ technique here is different. They put the meat on the side of the grilling plate, why? Cause they say that the middle is too hot, which will risk the meat to get burnt, so to ensure a safer way to evenly cook the meat, you need to put it on the side! Interesting!

IPPON KALBI IDR 79K
This looks like an umbilical cord..lol! Ignore my comment. It's long and thick, marinated with onion sauce, so it'll be a bit sweet when cooked!

See!!!

HARAMI IDR 59K
This is a bolder and sweeter version and a lean cut beef, so less fat!

TOKUJYO ROSU IDR 229K
This is from the Japanese Wagyu section (Premium A4 Japanese Beef Tri Tip), hence the price and it's also limited. You can clearly see the quality from how gorgeous the meat and marbling is! It's also super good even without any sauce.

TOKUJYO KALBI IDR 229K
Also from the same section, Japanese Wagyu and also limited. It's A4 Beef Shortrib. I love this one better cause it just melts in your mouth! I'd suggest you give them a call and book first if you're planning to get these limited ones!

CHAPJAE IDR 95K
Portion's pretty big and tastes amazing! Love the strong flavor as usually in other Korean restaurant, I'd need to add sesame oil and salt to the chapjae but not this one! Great job!

KALBI SOUP IDR 39K
For an IDR 39K soup this is more than worth it! There's a generous amount of meat and the soup tastes amazing, especially with rice! Fyi, rice here costs IDR 15K and there's also Waki Rice, which is white rice with waki sauce and nori, costs IDR 25K.

Everything here is just super delicious and affordable too! Even without sauce, the meat itself is already plenty good. Congratulations for the opening!
