DEVON CAFE JAKARTA - SENAYAN CITY

Devon Cafe is here in Jakarta!! More specifically in Senayan City Mall at the Crystal Lagoon area, yes, the one with the fish pond..lol! It just opened weeks ago and the waiting list is crazy, which is pretty expected since this is one of the top restaurants in Sydney.

Devon here is known for their super pretty brunch with incredible platting. The menu is of course a bit adjusted to suit Indonesian's taste, so they have something like Nasi Goreng Gila and Bakmi, which is so Asian, right? Lol!

The indoor is pretty small and the space between tables are too little, which is just what I don't like. I bet even if we whisper the table beside us will be able to hear.

Upon entering, you'll see the outdoor section on your right with only 4-5 tables. For the indoors, you'll find the bar on the left and kitchen right in front.

I guess they have lunch and dinner menus here cause some of the dish we tried are not from the lunch menu.

MFC IDR 70K

Hmm.. M Fried Chicken, I wonder what the M stands for? Marinated maybe? Cause this fried drumstick is marinated in shrimp paste!

SICHUAN PEPPER TOFU IDR 50K

The seasoning is a bit too light for me, so it's pretty much just tofu that's a bit salty and spicy..lol!

After the small plates, now we move on to the brunch menu!

CROISSANT ST DENNIS IDR 140K

Yes, don't be surprised, the price here are mostly above IDR 100K but the portion suits the price, so no worries!

They call this omelet Ghetto Style..lol! Topped with lots of crab meat and caviar, which not many might like but I totally love it!

DEVON BENEDICT BACON IDR 110K

I didn't get to try this one cause it's the first one that got swept clean. In this is charcoal bun, poached eggs, sauteed spinach,squid ink hollandaise, black tobiko, and salmon caviar. Sounds yummy! :(

BREAKFAST WITH THE SAKUMA'S IDR 180K

Yes, it's super pricey but it's super yummy!! A friend of mine from Australia also said that their king salmon is very popular there. I call it 'not just your ordinary salmon' lol!

This miso grilled king salmon is just heavenly!! On the side are eel croquette and egg.

RAGU ALLA SICHUANESE IDR 95K

Personally I find this too nutty and topped with ricotta cheese. Not my cup of tea but the texture of the spaghetti is perfect and there's a generous amount of minced beef!

OMURICE IDR 90K

Ta-dah! Suddenly it shifted to Japanese cuisine..lol! The Japanese omelette is super fluffy and the sauce is just marvelous tho. I can definitely eat this with just the rice, egg, and sauce. Yeap, even without the chicken it's already superb!

OGRE HAPPY MEAL IDR 140K

The highlight here is the grilled ox tongue on top of a delicious hash brown with cauliflower puree on the side. The texture of the ox tongue is like ribs, super tender and delicious, you can even slice it with just your spoon!

TRUFFLE BAKMI IDR 85K

The portion is just too mini but I bet they use a lot of truffle oil here cause we can even smell it from afar! Personally it's just standard tho and the soup is way too peppery and oily.

NASI GORENG GILA IDR 90K

Now this is NOT your ordinary fried rice (again) lol! They use beef sausage and chicken for the meat and the flavor is super bold! The fried chicken is similar to MFC above and as an Indonesian dish, we can't forget the sambal right? Of course, there's sambal terasi on the side!

This one is called Julia's Beef Ribs and it's very similar to the ox tongue. The sauce tastes absolutely similar, the only difference is that this one is torched and has more fat, so it's definitely more tender and juicy!

I think all the foods here are superb and worth every penny! Some people might think it's overrated but I guess everyone has different opinions but I really think this is worth the try. Congratulations again for the opening!
