JILL IN MARKETBAR

This beautiful place is called Jill In Marketbar. It's actually a Pastry & cocktail lounge but I came here last month only to try their desserts. They put their cakes on a display chiller and placed it outside, so whenever I pass this place, my eyes just went straight to those sweets and they just kept calling out saying "eat me!". I didn't try their main course because I was already so full from our feast at H5 which is just across here, also after trying a Martabak at Koffie Warung Tinggi. We always get too full when we try a diner cause we always went on a food-marathon.

The interior of this place is like a garden and very homey.

There are wine bottles all over the place, used as an amazing decoration.

The bar is very eye-catching cause of the huge collection of spirit bottles.

The desserts are all so pretty, colorful, unique and yummy looking.

CARAMEL MACCHIATO IDR 30K
The outer skin is like a thin jell-o, which I don't really like cause I think it's strange.. The taste is somewhat like chocolate cake with cream and has a tad caramel taste. I think the appearance is really cute. Out of the other, this one is the most eye catching for me.

OPERA IDR 30K

Just like any other Opera and again the top layer has that thin jell-o texture as well. The taste of this and the caramel macchiato is very similar cause both has a bit of coffee taste with cream.

LEMON CHEESE CAKE IDR 30K
This cake really helped me get through with the other two cakes, cause of it's tangy taste. I was so overwhelmed with the sweetness and cream that this lemony taste is really refreshing. By the way there's no solo photo of this cause it was horrible. The lighting was so bad that I couldn't rescue the photos, even by editing. I'm really sorry, I did tried my best.

We weren't able to fully enjoy our desserts because we were already wayyy too full. We didn't even get to finish it all. In my too full state, I can still say that these desserts are good enough, which means it might have been yummy. The service is amazing though, the staff is really patient with our wishy-washiness.

Introducing MAGNOFFEE : MAGNUM & COFFEE

So, two days ago we were invited by Magnum Cafe for a blogger gathering in an exciting and interesting event called “Introducing Magnoffee: Magnum & Coffee”. It was held at the Magnum Cafe in Grand Indonesia. They also invited the coffee expert and enthusiast, Toni Wahid, owner of  www.cikopi.com and also Riri Odang who is a Senior Brand Manager of Magnum. Magnum has been largely known as one of the best Belgian chocolate coated ice cream and now, they're experimenting with something new using coffee.

There were lots of food bloggers that I've only known through their amazing blogs and I was very happy to have a chance to meet them. They even generously prepared some snacks and drinks for us before we start the presentation. I don't know if this was because I haven't eaten that time or not, but the snacks are actually really satisfying. I especially love the fried chickens, which I think I had too much of!

Mr. Toni kindly shared his knowledge about coffee and he even said that the best coffee beans to him is actually Indonesian's. Wow! I think that's something we have to all be proud of. He even showed us how he combined coffee with Magnum's delicious ice cream to make an Affogato, which is a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso, and called for one volunteer who didn't like coffee to try it. Affogato is perfect for those who doesn't really like coffee and allows them to actually enjoy some and with coffee that's personally made by Mr. Toni combined with Magnum's ice cream, who could ever resist?

This is just espresso with Magnum's original vanilla ice cream. We were given samples of it and there're a few ways to enjoy it. You can either dip the ice cream and then enjoy the coffee from the ice cream, or you can put the whole ice cream into the coffee and just enjoy it from the cup. I usually am not a big fan of espresso shots, but with Magnum it was actually yummy. This is something that I might actually enjoy sometimes. Although I was a bit out of focus, cause instead of enjoying the coffee, I was actually enjoying the ice cream more. Oops?

Mr. Toni also teaches us how to brew our own coffee at home with these tools bellow that you can easily find. 10 grams of coffee and 100-150 grams of hot water (depends on how thick you want the coffee to be). Don't use the water that's too hot though, cause you might burn the grinned coffee beans (preferably 90°C). Well, now I can make my own coffee! :)

After Mr. Toni shown us all those things, we were separated into 4 groups to make our own style of Affogatos. We were given many ingredients to make our perfect Affogato, there was 4 glasses of espresso, 4 mini Magnum ice cream (Classic and Almond), milk, simple syrup, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and let's not forget the whipped cream! I had a lot of fun with the other food bloggers, experimenting with our crazy ideas of an Affogato. In the end, we made such a messy art but what matters is that we enjoyed it, right?

These are some of our creations! Just kidding HAHA, this was made by professionals (Magnum Cafe), definitely looked a lot more tempting than what I did, lol. Mr. Toni said that the great quality Belgian chocolate of Magnum can be proved by how it doesn't easily melt even when it's put in a hot coffee.

You can enjoy these all soon in Magnum Cafe, so be sure to try it out when they finally launched it! Overall, I had a great time in this event, it was both fun and educational. I even got a chance to have some quality time with other amazing food bloggers.

THANK YOU MAGNUM CAFE FOR INVITING US!!

CHICORY EUROPEAN PATISSERIE

Hello, welcome back everybody!

Okay, today I wanna tell you about this adorable little patisserie located at Menteng, near Taman Lawang. It's called Chicory European Patisserie and it was the last stop on my eat marathon so I didn't order much here. Did you know that Chicory is actually a name of a plant and is also used as a coffee substitute? I didn't. The icon here is a bird *I think it's European*.

This place is much suitable for a tea-time because the sweets are in a very small portion. The desserts are all within the showcase, so you can just choose your treats from there. Well, let's start scrolling downwards

The place is very simple and small but very homey and comfortable. They used mostly the color white with a touch of green and red, which just oozes relaxation and cozy. But if you come here in the afternoon it's gonna be very hot, because of the glass windows.

You will feel like you're eating in a dinning room of a European house, really nice. When you first step inside, you will see this gorgeous window.

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE IDR 25K
This beautiful dessert is just okay. The mousse is soft and fluffy and the chocolate is good *must be Belgian! Or not?* There's some kind of fruit at the top, but I still don't know the name.

CARAMEL ECLAIR IDR 42K
The caramel is what catches my attention. Most of the caramels here are not the usual glaze kind, but the crystallized candy-like caramel. I can almost just taste the sweetness just by looking at it. The cream is a bit bland though, as to even out the sweet caramel. The choux dough is perfect, not too soggy and not too stiff.

Just look at this cute little door stopper!

I think this is a bit too pricey for a small portion, but I guess the taste makes it up to that. The staff here are so kind and friendly as well, they only have one staff here by the way. Overall, I had a pretty good time enjoying my dessert. A little fun fact, the soap in the bathroom smells amazing! Really loved it..
