1945 RESTAURANT NEW MENUS

Hello August!! Another great month for Lulabyspoon because it's the special month of our awesome photograper!! It's also a special month for Indonesia, which is why we decided to open this month's post with something very Indonesian! Even the name says it all, 1945! Yes, I know it's not a new restaurant but they're offering some new menus to celebrate our National Independence Day!

Given their all time signature drinks to get our appetite going are these refreshing bunch; Blue Pea Flower and Longan from the Iced Soda Gandul section and Mulberry from the Fruity Lime Granita. They're literally perfect for any time of day, in any occasion!

TEMULAWAK PUNCH
A combination of brandy, a squeeze of lime and homemade cinnamon syrup, topped with soda water and our own javanese ginger beer, garnished with dried apple spiced with cinnamon.

Decided to try something from the cocktail section as well, though I know it's way too early for alcohol, since we went here for lunch but I just had to try this! I could really say that our traditional herbs actually make a good cocktail! The tamarind in this cocktail is pretty strong, which makes the whole thing sweet and though I can't barely taste the cinnamon syrup, I definitely could smell it!

CHICKEN OYSTER IDR 90K
Grilled seasoned chicken oyster on bamboo skewers.

No, I'm not lying when I say they have a new menu, this is just their must have! I'm not kidding, this simple and usually overlooked dish is actually their signature. If you still can't understand why, then you'll just have to try it for yourself! :p

SAYUR ASEM OCTOPUS IDR 95K
Pan seared baby octopus, scallops and prawn, served with shimeji mushroom, local vegetables in sweet and sour broth.

As promised, here's the start of the new menus! Starting with this very familiar soup for most Indonesians. I always love strong flavors and especially for this type of soup because it needs to be extra strong, just because it's Indonesian..lol! Thankfully, they managed to successfully made an awesome one!

Upon serving, they will pour the soup after it made it to our table like any other soup dishes they serve here, so don't be surprised to see a bowl of dry ingredients when you ordered soup!

MARTABAK WAGYU IDR 140K
Curry flavoured wagyu beef, scramble duck egg, leeks and onion, served on crispy fillo pastry with pickles and pomelo salad.

Taking martabak to a whole other level! Yes, this martabak is filled with wagyu, though it taste more Indian rather than Indonesian because of the curry flavor and the fillo pastry skin. The soy sauce that usually comes with martabak is made into jelly and drizzled on the side for that extra plating score..lol!

This is the sauce made into jello that I was talking about!

PEPES SEAFOOD IDR 250K
Steamed roast of seafood combination, flavoured in sweet basil pesto, wrapped in crispy fillo pastry.

Unlike the usual pepes, where you need to peel of the skin, with this you can just eat the whole thing because it's wrapped in yet another fillo pastry! Though because of the pastry, it kinda disturb the original taste of the pepes, I guess the taste is still okay. Love how it's taken to another level by the sweet basil pesto flavor!

BUNTEL RICE BURGER IDR 110K
Delicious Indonesian lamb burger served on caramelized seared rice cake, crispy onion and fresh salad.

Guess you could say that this is my least favorite, since it doesn't really taste Indonesian and the caramelized rice cake is totally not my thing! The lamb burger is awesome and the crispy onion just Westernized the dish I guess?

Since this is 1945's 1st anniversary as well as Indonesia's Independence day, they're commemorating with a 17,08% discount for every dine in for this month! Yes, the uneven percentage number is intentional and I personally think it's cute! :D What are you waiting for then? Celebrate with 1945 now!
