AB STEAKHOUSE BY CHEF AKIRA BACK JAKARTA

A celebration for all carnivores out there! AB Steak has finally opened in Jakarta, on 23rd April 2017 to be exact and it was only for dinner (06:30 pm - 10:30 pm) and you need to book your seat. I don't really know if it's going to be like that permanently or just for the time being. Sorry all.. anyways, this place is NOT an all you can eat as there are some who asked about that. It's an ala carte just like Akira Back, the chef is also from Akira Back and even on the same building as Akira Back, at MD Building, Kuningan, Mezzanine floor (just 1 floor away from the lobby)!


AB Steak here is a modern steakhouse with Korean accent!



Upon entering, you'll see a glass room where they store all the high quality meats!



There are only 9 or 10 tables with the capacity of 48 seats in the main dining, VIP room 1& 2 with 6 seats, and VIP room 3 with 12 seats here, so again, be sure to book your seat by calling the number that you can find on the bottom of this post!


The place is super dark making it very high end and classy, just like Akira Back, so be sure to dress accordingly!

SCALLOP CRUDO IDR 135K
Discovered yet another new flavor! The sauce is made of truffle yuja soy, so it's a bit sour and savory with yummy scallops!



AMBERJACK "CARPACCIO" IDR 195K
Sashimi with blood orange soy. Tastes much more sour than the scallop from before but yummy and you can really taste the quality from how fresh the fish is!



SHITAKE CROQUETTE IDR 225K
My eyes went straight to the uni! It looked so tempting that I don't even care about what's below it..lol! The white stuff below is not mashed potatoes but instead a leveled up one called smoked potato foam, fancy!


It's croquette but with a different, much more unique taste!


STEAMED BUN IDR 150K
Topped with foie gras and bbq duck. The night seem to get fancy and fancier as we go, huh? It's good but tastes familiar. Be sure to eat it in one go as it's the reason they made this bite sized!





BLACK MUSSELS IDR 135K
I started to understand why they say it's with a Korean accent here in AB Steak from this dish. They use gochujang butter sauce here and there's toppoki inside as well. Taste amazing by the way, give me this with rice and that's all I need to feel content!




AB'S CAESAR IDR 110K
A very luxurious salad, like any other dish here..lol! This one is the most average though, the salmon is just typically grilled and the veggies have this smokey edge and that's about it!



STEAK TARTARE
What you usually find in Korean restaurant under the name of Yukhoe, if I remembered correctly. It's raw wagyu on a bone marrow, where you can also eat the marrow!

Now is where the meat party starts! Firstly, each table will be given these 5 sauces for dipping. There're various types of salt already on the table as well, even if you didn't order meat. These salts are unique, so it's not pure salt but salt with mixed flavors and there're also 5 of them! My personal fave is the garlic salt and truffle salt! It's so good that I could even eat the salt by itself..lol! Don't try this at home(?)


AUS WAGYU 9+ FLAT IRON IDR 225K / 100 GR
Because there are 3 of this, so it's a total of IDR 675K but you can also just order 100gr. Don't worry!


Grilling time! The chef will grill it for us and it's into a medium rare. If you're not a fan of medium rare, you can just grill it again yourself to your own preference!


Not a beef expert here but this is super tender! Feels like it just melts in your mouth!



45 DAYS - PORTERHOUSE (500GR) IDR 925K
For this one, unfortunately there's no 100gr cause a piece of this is already that big. If I didn't hear wrong, this is 200 days grain fed! It's oh so good!



While this one's grilled, they put on the lid. I guess it's for an evenly cooked meat?




45 DAYS BONE-IN RIBEYE (300GR) IDR 597K
You can't get a 100gr of this one either, since the minimum of this is 300gr. Another 200 days grain fed and the same grilling process as the one before!


Ta-dah! Finally got the shot that we've been wanting to show you! When the lid is taken off, you can get a glimpse of the burning that happened inside. It's burnt till it looked this red and you can't get this process with normal grilling!


Another medium rare. Just imagine how tender this is and how much juice it'll have! Some might be appalled by this but this is where the grilled meat is the most juicy and tender!


COCONUT MOCHI CAKE IDR 65K
At first bite, I thought it was sticky rice and tasted like Wingko Babat (if you ever tried this Indonesian delicacy)! Turns out it was mochi..lol! It's definitely not the mochi that you usually encounter!


Paired up with coconut sorbet, perfect!


MOLTEN CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE IDR 150K
Well, it's not supposed to have that hole upon served actually..lol! Inside this is valhorna chocolate and even before trying it, I just knew it'll be superb! And I was right, actually, superb would be an understatement!



There's supposed to be 1 more dessert called Brandy Crepe Flambe IDR 150K. It's flambeed right in front of us on where the meat was grilled. Personally I find the taste to be like cough syrup because of the brandy..lol!
