Calling all Singaporeans, those who have been to Singapore, or just a big fan of Singapore cuisine, this kind of food is something you might be very familiar with! It's something that could be called as Hawker dish, the name is Bak Chor Mee or Mee Pok, which literally means Minced Meat Noodle!
Before this Ming Fa Bak Chor Mee that we are going to talk about, we've reviewed another Bak Chor Mee stand in Jakarta before called Yong He Noodles making this our second Bak Chor Mee in Jakarta review! Ming Fa here is located at PIK's Fresh Market, the ones that are just right outside the market, in line with other noodle shops there!
The place is not big nor is there any AC, it does have a 2nd floor but I don't recommend coming here at lunch time or you'll be waiting in line!
LAKSA IDR 39K
This is pretty good for a laksa in Jakarta, as it's usually too watery and not rich enough. It's pretty close to the authentic Singapore's and the spiciness level is just right and it's even more savory cause they uses 'terasi'!
MINCED MEAT NOODLE (BAK CHOR MEE) IDR 39K
Now this is it! That famous Bak Chor Mee..lol! You can choose either the big or thin noodles, we went with the big one for this. The noodle is mixed with sauce, vinegar, and chili making that orange spicy color, though it's not spicy at all. At least not for me!
Toppings are beef meatballs, pork sliced, minced pork, and crispy pork lard! Yummy!
SIGNATURE MINCED MEAT NOODLES IDR 52K
Actually, this and the Bak Chor Mee is pretty similar but with more toppings as there's pork meatballs, fish balls, and prawn in this one. Got the thin noodle for this one and I definitely prefer this one. I guess the flavors are much more absorbed in this one!
Well darn, I got hungry as I'm writing this. I'm so gonna come back here! It's a very simple and relaxed type of meal time, which is what we all need. No fancy dress, no judgmental stares on whether you're already dressed good enough or not, and just enjoy the food!
