KOHICHA CAFE KELAPA GADING

There's a new coffee shop opening in Kelapa Gading! It's at Ruko Gading Kirana and, well, just use GPS HAHAHA! Honestly, it's my first time visiting this complex, and Kohicha is the only coffee shop standing in this vicinity. Freshly opened just last Saturday, you can hit the hype at @kohichacafe!

HOURS KELAPA GADING

Hours here is a new hit at Kelapa Gading and it's 2 months old. There's definitely a lot of new places opening in Kelapa Gading, like Kahvenin, which opens not long after Hours here!

SENSORY LAB COFFEE KELAPA GADING

Yes, the most awaited Sensory Lab from Melb has finally arrived in Jakarta at Mall Kelapa Gading 3 to be exact! Very close to the lobby and right across Starbucks, so it's pretty easy to spot. If you came from a different lobby however and if you're not familiar with this mall like me, you'd get pretty confused..it's embarrassing to admit but I almost got lost here. Plus, the security is very hard to find!

ARAI BAKESHOP KELAPA GADING

Welcome back to Kelapa Gading! Haha. This time we went to a cute place called Arai. If I remember correctly the owner is called Agata and also the person behind all these delicacies! I knew about this place from a friend and after stalking it on Instagram, found that it looks super nice and clean, so it got me hooked!

KAMO KUMA DESSERT

Hey there people of Gading! It's not everyday that we posted anything from Kelapa Gading because obviously, this is way too far from our homes! Probably took us a few hours even without the traffic, so I only visit the place like 1 or 2 times in a year, yes I'm exaggerating, but that's just what I feel..lol! When I came here with some friends, we found this cute dessert cafe and decided to give it a try! The name is Kamo Kuma, not exactly new and their first branch is at Sunter. Located across of House of Soju, the signboard is pretty easy to find, it's green colored!

They have 2 floors here and the design is uber cute! It might be childish but I like it! I prefer the 2nd floor cause it's much more spacious, since there's a cashier and dessert bar that takes up the space on the 1st floor. When I came here, the other customers I saw consists of school kids, which clearly shows from their uniforms. That's why I think the design is perfect for kids!

FERRERO CHOCO NUTELLA IDR 30K
You won't find this on the menu book but you can order it right at the dessert bar on the 1st floor! Truth be told, I expected something more from this, since the name IS Ferrero Choco Nutella, so you can clearly understand what I'm imagining, right? Too bad it turns out to be a normal chocolate cake but since there's Nutella plus a whole Ferrero on top, it's still good. They could surpass good if they try to be more daring though!

KAMO PARFAIT STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE IDR 40K
Strawberry & vanilla ice cream, cheesecake, cake, corn flakes, strawberry jelly, mochi, strawberry sauce, wafers.

Seriously why is all their parfait menu a recommended? And when I asked the waitress, she only said the usual it depends on taste, like that helps..lol! Well, since nothing helps, I decided to go with my own voice of reason!

My voice of reason picked this one, since the other choices are matcha, milo, and nutella. We already got chocolates for the other menu, so we wanted something refreshing to balance it out. The good news is that this really is good!

As you can see for yourself, there're various toppings in this and I think all of them are good, just not the type to be mixed. I'd suggest eating them individually(?)

MARTABAK S'MORES DIP 54% ITALIAN DARK CHOCOLATE IDR 45K
Perfect balanced of bitter and sweet. People pleaser!
Choice of: Marie Regal Cookies or Crispy Toasted Bread.

THIS IS IT people! This is the ultimate temptation! How is it that everything that is sinfully pleasurable always named martabak? Well, I don't even know why this is called martabak, since it doesn't even look like one but who cares?

They have 2 choices for this, 54% and 70%, we went with the 54% cause we're afraid that the 70% would be too bitter for us. So below this baked marshmallows is a perfectly melted dark chocolate and also toasted nuts and sesame. Be warned that this is super sweet, so I only recommend this for the sweet-toothed!

Can you imagine the already sweet Marie Regal Cookie dipped into this super sweet s'mores, plus ice cream? But it's just too good for me to have any complaints!

TELLA BALL SHAKE DOUBLE TELLA IDR 45K
Nutella doughnut on top of Nutella milkshake. Double happiness.

Yeap, it's called double tella because it's double the Nutella! Nutella doughnut and Nutella milkshake, what more can you ask for? Especially since the milkshake really does taste like Nutella, which means they're totally generous with it. It's like drinking a jar of Nutella!

Don't worry about getting a Nutella overdose, the sauce inside that injection is only chocolate sauce! The doughnut was a bit too oily for my liking though, which is too bad!

This below is the 1st floor. See how cramped it is?

Even though the place doesn't look convincing and like the type that is only pretty to look at, so I'm glad after seeing that the desserts are good! Good desserts always give me happiness! :D

LE EPICURE PATISSERIE

Hi! How's your day? I hope it's great! My holiday just ended and I've started my first week of back in university..devastating, yet this is what I've been waiting for as well, since I really want to hurry up and graduate! *Sigh* The struggles of last semester students... Give me strength peeps!
On my last day of freedom, I decided to visit somewhere further from home; Kelapa Gading!! The times I've been to Kelapa Gading can still be counted with my fingers, which just shows how rare this opportunity is! I came here specifically to try a Thai cuisine, which is gonna be posted later on, and also for this beautiful cafe, Le Epicure! (So French!)

You might be astonished by how deserted this place is but you're not the only one! I would never thought there would be such a gorgeous patisserie in this neighborhood, you have to check them out yourself to understand what I'm trying to say! Seriously! If it wasn't for Instagram, I wouldn't have known about this but because they're deserted, the place is almost empty, which made it super comfy! My friends and I definitely made ourselves at home here!

Firstly, you'll face a pretty high stairs even before entering the cafe and inside you'll find more stairs, which leads you either to their bottom floor or middle one, where the cakes are displayed, we'll also place our orders here. They have 3 floors here and the seats are only on the bottom and third, there's also a fourth floor but it the office or something, which non-associated people are not supposed to enter! The photo below is the bottom floor by the way!

Here's the second floor! See how pretty and sweet the place is? Might be a bit too girly but since I'm a girl, I'm totally loving this! I do think these kind of designs for a patisserie has become too mainstreamed though, but it's still pretty so I'll let it slide!

Some of the displayed goods!

I chose the third floor to enjoy my desserts and you'll see how amazing this place is here! Truth be told, I decided to sit here because they said the third floor has sofas..lol!

And once again, the most amazing view and interior has to go to the smoking room! :( But I guess it's a given, since this is the outdoors. A patio-like outdoor separated by a glass door from the indoor!

The coolest part of this is the fact that they're glass-floored, so you can see through to the bottom floor from here! Warning to the girls wearing skirts though, since if we can see what's below, the person below can also see what's above them!

This is really a perfect spot for a photoshoot! Not only because of the beautiful interior but also because there's so much natural sunlight coming in!

PLAISIR SUCRE IDR 25K
One of Pierre Hermé's wonderful creations, a French pastry chef who is called 'The Picasso of Pastry' and is famous for his macarons! The original recipe consists of Dacquoise biscuit with crunchy hazelnuts, hazelnut crisp, thin wafers of milk chocolate, milk chocolate ganache and milk chocolate chantilly and here they created an almost similar one! Though it still looked like a sloppy work, I can really see them going somewhere if they perfected it! The taste was pretty standard but seeing the price, it was kind of worth it!

CHOCOLAT HAZELNUT ECLAIR IDR 20K
Okay, I can really say that they don't have the best eclairs. The choux dough was too dry and you can't really taste the hazelnut. I don't recommend the eclairs, no matter how affordable it is!

DARK CHOCOLATE TART IDR 25K
Don't judge by how it looks cause this is one of my favorites! Cookie crusted dark chocolate ganache with a hint of coffee flavor in it! Simply satisfying!

MILLE FEUILLE IDR 25K
Very ordinary and what I don't like about mille feuille is that they're so hard to cut! By the end of succeeding in cutting it, they'll probably be in a mess! The cream was okay and it's not bad, just really standard!

MANGO MOUSSE IDR 25K
So.very.sour!! I know it's gonna be tangerine-y fresh but I didn't expect it to be this much! After eating all the sweet heavy pastries, this was our lifesaver though, but it doesn't change the fact that it's really sour! The colors really pretty and that is what attracted me the most!

VANILLE ECLAIR IDR 15K
This is worse than the hazelnut, since vanilla is like the most basic of all flavors, which made this eclair more unattractive to my taste bud! :(

TIRAMISU IDR 25K
This was decent enough and the simple plating is actually kinda cute! Though it's not the neatest job with the layering, at least the taste is okay!

The price here is really affordable!! Too bad they didn't develop the taste more or it'll be perfect but I guess this is the highest quality we could get with just IDR 15-25K. Even if there's nothing special with the pastries, I'd definitely come back just for the sake of the calm and inspiring ambiance! I could really see myself getting some work done here! I hope they'd step up on their taste so that this place could become the perfect spot in Kelapa Gading!
