KOHICHA CAFE KELAPA GADING

There's a new coffee shop opening in Kelapa Gading! It's at Ruko Gading Kirana and, well, just use GPS HAHAHA! Honestly, it's my first time visiting this complex, and Kohicha is the only coffee shop standing in this vicinity. Freshly opened just last Saturday, you can hit the hype at @kohichacafe!

NEOMA LIPPO MALL PURI

So there's this new specialty coffee place in Lippo Mall Puri (At the J.Co Lobby) called Neoma, which actually means New Moon / New Beginning. This place is a hidden paradise! Despite its seemingly isolated place, you might want to check out their instagram to find their exact location, since it's on the far end of the mall lobby! If you knew Osaka Maru, the japanese restaurant is now replaced by Neoma, a far more eccentric place to be in! 

This place is a joint venture of the passionate creators of Mionette, one of my favorite cake house in Px Pavillion, and the prominent coffee roaster, Nagadi Coffee. Their friendship then gave birth to the idea of creating this place for coffee mongers and jolly eaters in a community!

HARIO CAFE PLUIT

Yet another new collective space in Pluit is open!! Hario, the most prominent heatproof glass manufacturer from Japan has opened a... WAIT! HAHAHA so before I even start, I said what I said! Hario was originally a heatproof glass manufacturer who tried their fortune in producing syphon coffee maker... and the rest is history. Having become the most well known manual brewing coffee maker manufacturer, they opened their 2nd conceptual space of dine, drink, and shop. The 2nd store is located near to Pluit Village, which is already registered in your GPS! Their first store is located in Aeon Mall BSD, if you happen to wonder!

The shop aims to carry the style of Japanese modern heritage. Longing to deliver visitors 3 distinct experience in the store, which are flavor, presentation, as well as a space to belong, the concept that has already been opened in Tokyo, Japan has been leading on its own as a retailer that offers experience more than just a product.

DINNER AT TOBY'S ESTATE PIK AVENUE

We've shared about Toby's first opening in Indonesia before, now we're gonna talk about their dinner menu! They've started selling these menus on November 1st 2017 and please keep in mind that this is for dinner only!

CHAR-GRILLED ANGUS STEAK

The portion here is huge, even for me who's a huge carnivore. Not only the portion big but the meat is also very thick. The taste is without a doubt superb and very tender, too bad the sauce doesn't balance out the meat. More sauce please! For the sides, they use onion rings, yeay!

HOURS KELAPA GADING

Hours here is a new hit at Kelapa Gading and it's 2 months old. There's definitely a lot of new places opening in Kelapa Gading, like Kahvenin, which opens not long after Hours here!

ARDENT COFFEE AND EATERY

Told ya Puri is getting major improvements!! Yeah! Another coffee shop that totally surprised me, Ardent Coffee and Eatery! Can you imagine that this beautifully minimalist coffee shop is actually located at Pesanggrahan, in line with Sandwich Bakar, Ikkudo, and Haji Mamat. From outside, you'd never guess that the inside is this pretty or this big. Let's start the tour then!

ANOMALI COFEE MENTENG

Yeap, if you've know about the coffee hype in Jakarta, you'd definitely be familiar with this one. It's the one and only Anomali Coffee! With a lot of their branch opening here and there, this particular coffee shop is definitely a reliable place to grab your caffeine needs before work! This time, we went to the one at Menteng!

Not only known for their coffee, Anomali also serves up some pretty hardcore foods and now they've decided to change their whole food menu into something more local with a special theme, Street Heritage! As it is their goal to introduce Indonesia through their finest coffee, they also decided to suit their foods to the same goal, hence how the theme is born!

SENSORY LAB COFFEE KELAPA GADING

Yes, the most awaited Sensory Lab from Melb has finally arrived in Jakarta at Mall Kelapa Gading 3 to be exact! Very close to the lobby and right across Starbucks, so it's pretty easy to spot. If you came from a different lobby however and if you're not familiar with this mall like me, you'd get pretty confused..it's embarrassing to admit but I almost got lost here. Plus, the security is very hard to find!

MAOKI COFFEE & FOOD

It's mid 2017 and yet coffee game still going strong here in Jakarta! Here's another new coffee shop appearing in Dharmawangsa Square called Maoki Coffee. It's inside Barber Club in the back corner and I start to wonder why are there so many coffee shops that is inside a barber shop!

HARDWARE LANE JAKARTA

So happy that there's yet another brunch spot in Jakarta! When people talk about brunch, the first place that came up in my mind is definitely Maple & Oak but then after giving it some thought, I guess Jakarta has quite a lot of brunch spots like St. Ali, Toby's Estate, and Common Grounds, which are all connected by the way..lol! It's usually coffee shops tho and Hardware Lane here is no different. Don't really know whether they want to focus on the coffee or brunch but all I know is the presentation of their brunch is very interesting! Like always, I did some stalking on their Instagram before visiting and it's obvious that they're an Australian type of brunch and lucky me, cause that's exactly what I love!

Located at Pluit and you can locate it with GPS, cause that's how I found it too..lol! Signage is pretty big, so it's easy to find and the parking lot is huge. You won't miss it!

GUTEN MORGEN COFFEE LAB JAKARTA

A lot have been asking about the whereabouts of this place and honestly, I don't really know the direction either but don't worry tho cause there's a one stop solution and that's Google Maps! Haha! I can almost find any location using only that, even if the restaurant's not yet included, you can still insert the street's name instead!

DANCING GOAT COFFEE PURI

See! Told ya the newly opened coffee shops in West Jakarta are mostly located at Puri area! Here's yet another one and it's called Dancing Goat. Their exact location is actually in line with Puri Bugar. Yes, it's around that shophouse area!

CALIBRATE COFFEE PURI KEMBANGAN

It's amazing how everyone seems to open a coffee shop. Here's yet another specialty coffee house at Puri Kembangan and it's actually in line with Simetri Coffee, it's Calibrate Coffee!

TOBY'S ESTATE COFFEE ROASTERS INDONESIA

Here's what every coffee lovers been buzzing of! From Australia, now to Indonesia, yes, this famous coffee house has found a home here in our beloved Jakarta and into the rising star PIK Avenue no less. It's Toby's Estate everybody!

COFFEE SIXTYNINE PLUIT

No, you're not on the wrong post, this is Coffee Sixtynine but they do sell samcan here! XD Coffee and pork lovers, now you can come together in this controversial coffee shop..lol! Why controversial, just look at it's name, I didn't get it at first, but then my friend told me..I'm too naive for this hahaha!

DOPPIO COFFEE

Yes, the coffee shop fever is still going strong! Here's another one in Wolter Monginsidi called Doppio. Name taken from the word Doppio, which is a double shot, extracted using a double coffee filter in the portafilter. Yeah, I got it from wiki..I'm not that knowledgeable about coffee, kay? :p

KOPIUM SUNTER

Okay, so if you live in Kelapa Gading, you would be familiar with this coffee shop called Kopium but today we won't be talking about the one in Gading but in Sunter instead! Yeap, they've already opened up a 2nd branch, though Gading and Sunter isn't really that far from each other. We didn't intend to come here specifically, we just passed the place and think that it looks interesting from the outside..totally on impulse!

ATOMIC ESPRESSO BAR

Ready for something a bit further from Jakarta? Lol! Yes, the coffee fever is spreading and this time it hits Sunter! Located at a residence, this place might be a bit hard to find, since the one at Waze is actually not that acurate but don't worry, you can still use the direction given but after the Waze app said that you've arrived, continue straight until you find the place on your right! Don't worry about not seeing it because they have a huge sign called Atomic Espresso Bar!

This coffee shop is really different because it's built from a residence, so it really looks like an actual house! I don't know if it's from the owner's house or was it bought to become a coffee shop from the start, all I know is that it literally a house with gates and more indoor space, only 1 outdoor table and it's way too exposed to sunlight!

Another thing that makes this place different is that coffee shops nowadays usually inhabited a minimalist interior with wooden furniture but not here! This place looks more of a night life cafe!

Instead of wood, they have this black and red table, which is why I said it's a night cafe..lol!

They offer some cakes and pastries, like quiches or brownies or croissants. Too bad stuff like fries or chicken wing is not available yet!

Ta-dah! Look at it's indoors! Very unlike those typical coffee shops, right? Got me lost for words and totally amazed that they dared to do this kind of concept!

When I came here, there're not many customers around, which is good for a me time! Very cozy and each table is somewhat divided, so you'll have more privacy!

So this is a first time, darts in a coffee shop..lol!

News flash! All the beverages here cost only IDR 25K, yes, all of them! Don't know if it's somekind of a promotion or is it they're actual price!

UNICORN (TARO LATTE)

Loved it!! Perfectly balanced sweetness and the color isn't like the usual purple taro latte but more of a pinkish purple. Better drink up while it's still warm or just get the iced one instead!

ICE ROCKETS

That espresso cubes kind of beverage that has been popular these days! It's a better way to serve ice latte and this is also 1 of their best sellers after the unicorn!

CHICKEN & MUSHROOM QUICHE IDR 32K

Trust me when I say this is 1 of the best quiche I've ever tasted! Especially eaten while it's still warm..heaven! Well, it's no wonder, since the person behind the quiche is a London's Le Cordon Bleu student called Chef Mesa Tristianto!

 

Super generous amount of chicken with perfect pie crust texture! Yum!

Can you believe that all the brownies here cost only IDR 10K? Everything here is just super affordable! What's better is that they offer vege brownies!

First up is the Original, which is already super yummy in my opinion! Just picture a crispy outer with moist cake and melted chocolate inside! I'm drooling as I'm writing this!

Next is the Red Velvet Cream Cheese. Now this here is the vege brownies, though I don't understand how is that possible and too bad I didn't try this! Wonder what difference they have!

This Chocolate Brownies is also incredible! Just look at that shining chocolate ganache that melts in your mouth!! Perfection!

Not trying to advertise this but this place is truly amazing! Totally a must try if you're in the area. The only down side and a fatal one that is about this is the location...it's way too far from home! It's also new and hasn't been exposed that much yet but with the quality they offer, it's just a shame that people don't know about the place! If only it's in the West area, I'd definitely be a loyal customer!

DJULE KOFI MELAWAI

Since one of us works at a coffee shop, our interest for coffee shops definitely increased and even more so because coffee has been more and more popular here nowadays! To prove that point, we deliberately went to Melawai just to visit this 1 coffee shop and on my only day off nonetheless! Well, since this coffee shop called Djule Kofi here has been the new hit in town, we thought that we just had to try it, so here we are!

We totally fell in love with the interior! With all it's huge windows and wooden furniture and urban designs, it's surely a good spot for a photoshoot! They actually have 2 floors but the 2nd floor is only for big reservations or else it's usually closed up, so if you wanna have a private mini gathering, this place should be on the list!

Fyi, this is located on the outer side of Melawai, so if you're only dropped off, you don't really need to go into the Melawai but if you're driving then you'd just have to find a parking spot inside. Be warned that it's a bit tricky to find 1, so there's a risk of walking a long way! Oh and 1 more thing the owner of Djule is actually the same as Ombe Kofie at Pluit! Wow, 2 strong coffee shop competitors with 1 owner!

REGULAR WHITE IDR 40K

Though I don't really understand much yet about coffee, seeing that I'm still learning, I find the coffee here very satisfying! We both got the Regular White, which stands for a normal milk based coffee, like latte or cappuccino, so what they do here is they don't have choices like latte or cappuccino or all those usual ones but what they have on their menu is things like 'Black, Mini White, Regular White, Double White, etc'. Ways to be different!

Here they don't have any proper meals, since they're a proper coffee shop and not a bistro, but they do have cakes and pastries to fill your tummy before indulging on your caffeine! Be sure to not have your coffee on an empty stomach or you'll get a tummy ache!

ALMOND CROISSANT IDR 40K

This almond croissant is super tempting with it's generous amount on of almonds displayed on top to lure us in! Love it's crunchy almonds on top and the sweet butter in the middle as well! The size also comes with a reasonable price!

REGULAR FLIGHT IDR 55K

Regular white + espresso.

There's also a thing called Regular Flight here, which is literally a split shot, so you get a latte with a espresso on the side. Killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

CANELES IDR 28K
Who else here is a fan of Caneles? Both of us definitely have our arms up! This little monster here is our favorite dessert and we immediately get it upon seeing it here, especially considering this is their final piece! Thank God we still got to try it!

COLD BREW WHITE IDR 40K
If you can't take coffees that well but still want to try their coffee, why not get this instead? I really recommend you getting this either way though, personally think that you'll love this whether or not you're a coffee drinker! It's sweet yet not an insult to the coffee! :)

So just a little update on my situation, if any of you is following my snapchat; june77yh, you'd know that my laptop just broke down leading me to write this on my tab. It's way more inconvenient but I'll just have to make do with it. Praying that my data could all be safely retrieved somehow, even if the laptop is unsaveable! :')
