ONNI TANJUNG DUREN - JAKARTA

Aren't you tired of me telling you that there's yet another new place? The development of retail and F&B in Jakarta is just insane! This place in Tanjung Duren is called Onni House. A hidden paradise missed by the eyes of passerbys! Anyway, the place isn't exactly located in the main road, so just look it up on your GPS! Parking was a bit of a challenge since it's located near KFC Tanjung Duren. They have been doing this florist-restaurant concept, but since the place already looks like a garden, I guess everyone assumed they're just a florist! There should have been writings stating that they have seats available, because what they're doing is ground breaking. 

NEOMA LIPPO MALL PURI

So there's this new specialty coffee place in Lippo Mall Puri (At the J.Co Lobby) called Neoma, which actually means New Moon / New Beginning. This place is a hidden paradise! Despite its seemingly isolated place, you might want to check out their instagram to find their exact location, since it's on the far end of the mall lobby! If you knew Osaka Maru, the japanese restaurant is now replaced by Neoma, a far more eccentric place to be in! 

This place is a joint venture of the passionate creators of Mionette, one of my favorite cake house in Px Pavillion, and the prominent coffee roaster, Nagadi Coffee. Their friendship then gave birth to the idea of creating this place for coffee mongers and jolly eaters in a community!

ARDENT COFFEE AND EATERY

Told ya Puri is getting major improvements!! Yeah! Another coffee shop that totally surprised me, Ardent Coffee and Eatery! Can you imagine that this beautifully minimalist coffee shop is actually located at Pesanggrahan, in line with Sandwich Bakar, Ikkudo, and Haji Mamat. From outside, you'd never guess that the inside is this pretty or this big. Let's start the tour then!

FISH AND CHEAP JAKARTA

Okay, I admit, Indonesia is super good in terms of plagiarism..lol! Once they see 1 business doing amazing, I bet there will be similar business appearing, not just one but a few! Don't really know if you can call this creative or cunning! Well, there's no doubt that when people ask you about fish and chips in Jakarta, the answer would mostly be Fish n Co., right? Later on, because Fish n Co. is considered pricey, Fish Streat was born and has become very popular because of the cheap price, it even has 6 branches now! Wow, right?

COMMON GROUNDS NEO SOHO MALL

The name Common Grounds is probably something you're already familiar with as it is to us. Yes, this is that Common Grounds from Citywalk and it has finally reached the West! Yay for us! They have step foot into the newly opened mall, Neo Soho, right across Central Park. Now I know where to get my proper coffee and brunch!

BREAKFAST AT PORTO BISTREAU CENTRAL PARK

My first visit to Porto Bistreau is to the one at Central Park, which is actually their 2nd branch. The first one is at Serpong. Porto here is from Altima Group, so it's the same as Nanny's Pavilion, Karnivor, Wild Grass in Bandung, and others. Went here for a breakfast, which is pretty rare and weird, even for me. Who am I kidding? Central Park is not exactly a type of breakfast kind of mall and yet here I am..lol! No, we don't live in the hotel or apartment near here if that's what you're thinking, guess we're just that random!

Porto Bistreau here opens from 8 in the morning, which is why they have a breakfast menu and there're 6 of them, available only till 11 am, so it's not an all day breakfast. Be sure to keep that mind!

GUTEN MORGEN COFFEE LAB JAKARTA

A lot have been asking about the whereabouts of this place and honestly, I don't really know the direction either but don't worry tho cause there's a one stop solution and that's Google Maps! Haha! I can almost find any location using only that, even if the restaurant's not yet included, you can still insert the street's name instead!

CALIBRATE COFFEE PURI KEMBANGAN

It's amazing how everyone seems to open a coffee shop. Here's yet another specialty coffee house at Puri Kembangan and it's actually in line with Simetri Coffee, it's Calibrate Coffee!

FIFI BISTRO PLAYFIELD KIDS ACADEMY SRENGSENG

So I got contacted by someone I really didn't expect! I guess you could say she's an old friend and I'm always excited to get in touch with a long lost friend. Met her in my trainee days back in college and now we're both already working! She works here on a hidden gem called FIFI Bistro at Srengseng!

TED'S BISTRO TANJUNG DUREN & PALEM CAFE CENTRAL PARK

Went down with a fever few days ago and right after I got better, I immediately went out to get food..lol! Not really unintentional though, cause we did have an appointment to meet and eat at this newly re-branded restaurant called Ted's Bistro at Tanjung Duren. It used to be called Serassa but decided to change the look to be more young and hip with Westernized cuisines!

Their exact location is next to Cafetaria and pretty easy to find actually. Just look for that big black sign..lol! Now, even if they have changed their menus and everything, the interior still feels very Java, though I'm not saying it's bad, it's just a bit mixed! Fyi, the place is not this white, it's actually pretty yellow, since the lights here are all yellow lights!

Being another one of our featured in Lakupon, this place also has some offers that you can get from the website!

What they have here is a portion of Ted's Bistro's beef sirloin, chicken, sausage, seafood satay, and sides in 1 plate for only IDR 129K!

Ta-da! Here is what it looks like! Though it's not as much as we expected, it's a great chance to try their dishes, since you got various of things in a plate!

For the sauce, you can either choose mushroom or black pepper. We chose the mushroom sauce here! Their foods are actually not bad, I especially love their sausage. The sirloin beef is also very tender as long as you don't get to the tendon, yet it's very thin for a sirloin. Well, they did say it's only 100 grams but still!

150GR GRILL NORWEGIAN SALMONE IDR 95K

Key lime sauce with butter rice and saute mix vegie.

Now this is not included in any of the Lakupon deal but because there're 2 of us, we decided to get another and try the salmon while we're at it! The butter rice's nice, though not very fragrant and the salmon is cooked well. Nothing more and nothing less!

Immediately going to our next spot which is located at Central Park Mall, it's Palem Cafe! Yes, we went to these 2 places at the same day, it was right after I got better too..the things we do for food..lol!

Palem Cafe here is located inside Sogo, so be sure to look for it there! When we came here, the place was way too deserted! Is it because of the air condition problem Central Park is having lately? But the staffs even said that it's an everyday thing, so I guess we just have to see for ourselves then!

Lakupon has 2 packages for Palem Cafe here! Package A is suitable for 2 people, cause you'll get 2 pasta and B for 4 pasta, so the only difference is literally just in the amount!

You'll get a special menu if you're using Lakupon where you can choose from 10 (if I remember it correctly) sets. They actually have 2 different soups, pumpkin and mushroom but they don't have the pumpkin for that day, so only mushroom..bummer!

What it lacks is seasoning! Other than that it's already fine, you can really taste the mushroom and the creaminess is good, just way too bland! Good thing there're salt and pepper on the table!

For the 4 pasta, we chose set number 9, which is Spaghetti Vongole, Spaghetti Katsu, Fusilli Bolognaise, and Tagliatelle Katsu. Same problem here, bland! I think the kitchen forgot what salt is? There's really almost no taste at all and it's not because I've just recovered, since all of us agreed on that! They really need to improve their seasonings if they want customers to start flowing in!

Well, at least their dessert is good, though it's only crepes with caramelized banana and ice cream. Can't see anything going wrong with that, lest they forgot the sugar as well..lol!

Well, I guess I understand why they're not receiving much love. They do need some serious check up on their quality control or at least try to make their dishes a bit more tasteful? Improving a bit on the service quality can't hurt as well, seeing as their service was still a bit messy. Best of luck!

BURGO JAKARTA

Yeah! Another decent new restaurant called Burgo has opened at Puri! Though this one's a bit isolated, since it's at Puri Mansion's shopping district and hard to locate from the main road, not only that but the place also lacks signboard! How we found out about the place, it's all thanks to good ol' Instagram!

I guess you can already guess from the name that Burgo specializes in Burgers, right? Upon entering, I was totally blown away by the super cozy atmosphere and somehow looks semi-fine dining, don't you think? But because we didn't expect this kind of place at Puri, we were definitely under-dressed!

Went here when it was still daylight, yet I don't really know why the photo turns out like it was taken at night. Maybe it's because of the lighting in this place?

To me this looks like the kind of place to have a few drinks, not just a simple dining place. Maybe it's the black couch? Anyone else agrees?

You'll also find some drawings of a cow, which I don't really know why, since they're not selling steak. Hmm..

CHEDDAR SOUP IDR 28K

Croutons, onions.

Honestly, this is the first time I've heard of a cheddar cheese soup. Usually it's just mushroom or pumpkin, etc and I rarely get soups in a restaurant but since this is a Cheddar soup, it definitely pokes my curiosity! Everything ended well as it turns out to be super good! It really does taste like cheddar cheese and if you like cheese, get this!

Even though it's rich with cheese, I'm glad that the texture is perfect, not too thick nor thin and it smells heavenly! I could even finish the whole thing myself, since it's not overwhelming at all because we all know how tricky it is when it comes to cheese!

FISH & CHIPS IDR 37K

Yes, though in most restaurants, fish and chips would be considered a main course, here, it's only a side. You can clearly tell just by looking at the portion of this, right?

Taste-wise, it's really nothing special. Not gonna say it's bad but not gonna say it's good as well!

DEEP FRIED CHICKEN WINGS IDR 32K

Served with BURGO chili sauce.

There's really nothing special about this but because of the BURGO chili sauce, it tasted better! Well, nothing can really go wrong with fried chickens, though it is a bit tasteless..which is why you need the BURGO chili sauce!

MEMPHIS MAC DADDY IDR 78K
Pork burger, grilled slab of mac and cheese, fried onions, smokey BBQ sauce.

It's PORK and it's YUMMY! Everything is perfect, from the top bun 'till the bottom bun..absolutely delicious! On top is an onion ring, followed by mac and cheese, and on the bottom is the yummy pork, plus the smokey BBQ sauce doesn't taste sour at all! Overall, it has a super balanced taste!

Though it's not truffle fries, it still tastes amazing!

I'd definitely love to come back, so that I could try all the other burgers they have, since I couldn't have on this visit because there's just the 2 of us. Bet that the other burgers would taste as lovely as the one we had! A little suggestion from me is to advertise the place more, since I feel like not many knows about this place, especially when you can't see it from the main road, which is a shame because the foods are actually good!
