BREAKFAST AT PORTO BISTREAU CENTRAL PARK

My first visit to Porto Bistreau is to the one at Central Park, which is actually their 2nd branch. The first one is at Serpong. Porto here is from Altima Group, so it's the same as Nanny's Pavilion, Karnivor, Wild Grass in Bandung, and others. Went here for a breakfast, which is pretty rare and weird, even for me. Who am I kidding? Central Park is not exactly a type of breakfast kind of mall and yet here I am..lol! No, we don't live in the hotel or apartment near here if that's what you're thinking, guess we're just that random!

Porto Bistreau here opens from 8 in the morning, which is why they have a breakfast menu and there're 6 of them, available only till 11 am, so it's not an all day breakfast. Be sure to keep that mind!

THE AMERIKANA DINER AND DIVE

Hmm..how long has it been since the last time we went to Pantai Indah Kapuk? Well, since the news about the water tragedy, we haven't been going there much but now that they said that it's fixed, we can't be more excited to be back here! While we were browsing around from Anak Jajan's blog for some place that has an all-day breakfast menu at PIK, we immediately drooled over the photos of this place called The Amerikana! Yes, even us bloggers got hypnotized by each others photos! :D

The Amerikana...does anyone else find the name cool? I don't know why but I really like the sound of it. Okay, never mind it..back to topic! I'm sorry for forgetting to take a shot of the front of the building but it has a gray color and located in line with LIMA, plus the sign's pretty clear, so it's supposedly easy to find!

The interior is somehow like an American schools or some sport's field, don't you think so too? The lockers, the jerseys..well to me it does. Fyi, the place is not as empty as what the photo shows, trust me! When we arrived, there're already 4 tables occupied!

What saddens me is that they don't divide the smoking and non-smoking room, either that or they don't allow any smoking at all, since I didn't see any ashtray here!

Here's the inner part of the room, which is why there's not much natural light coming in. It's comfy though, since it's mostly sofa-tables!

HOT TEA IDR 15K
Believe me when I say I chose hot tea because of the rainy season and I thought it'll be the perfect beverage to warm up with, and it's definitely not because you can refill it or anything! :p

THE NOTORIUS B.I.G BREAKFAST IDR 70K
Two buttermilk pancakes, a slice of grilled pork/beef ham, two pork/beef bacon strips, two sausage links, two eggs, choice of potatoes, choice of bread.

This is a jumbo sized for me! I totally suggest to this for 2 people, since everything here comes in 2. The pancake, toast, hash brown, bacon and everything except for the sausage and ham but even that is big enough to be split into 2!

Nothing in this plate disappoints me! Nothing! All of them were superb, even the toast! Well, actually there's nothing special with the toast..that is, until you put the butter on! It's not salted or anything like how usual butters are, nope, this butter here is surprisingly sweet!

For the choice of potatoes, you can get fries, mash, or hash brown like we did. I personally prefer hash brown out of all the options, since I just love hash browns!

You can either choose beef or pork for the bacon, which of course, I chose pork! It's not as crispy as I thought it would be but that doesn't mean it's less good, I just love how it's not oily!

Just from looking at this, I'm reminiscing how fluffy it was! Let's not leave out that superb maple syrup as well! I even asked the waiter to refill it..lol!

WINGS ( TRADITIONAL/BONELESS) IDR 45K
Spread your wings! Garlic Parmesan.

Don't judge a book by it's cover! Even though this looked dry and all, it's actually delicious! Too bad it's not crispy like how it's supposed to be, since they're covered with sauce, so it's a bit mushy. Good thing the sauce is not overwhelming, I bet it's because of the tar-tar sauce! Now, you're probably wondering why I got the chicken wings..no? Well, I'm gonna tell you anyway! It's because Wednesday is wings day! Most restaurant that sells chicken wings will give out special promotion on Wednesday, like Wing Stop. Here in The Amerikana, the special promotion is a 50% discount for the wings in any flavor you want, there's buffalo, mango habanero, BBQ, red hot, original, and this garlic parmesan!

THE PLATTER IDR 55K
Traditional buffalo wings, chicken tenders, fries and cheddar bites.

Pretty much fried foods other than the wings. It's almost the whole appetizer put into 1 plate, so if you want to try'em all, I'd suggest getting this! Everything in this plate is also good, though I didn't taste any cheese in the cheddar bites..hmm?

I'd prefer the wings with other flavors than this though. Wonder what flavor this is, it's somewhat like BBQ or is this the original? Well whatever it is, it's too sweet for my liking. Thankfully, there's a dipping sauce to save the day!

EGG BENEDICT IDR 75K
Pork/beef bacon on a toasted English muffin, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, garlic sauteed spinach, and a roast tomato.

Again, you can choose the bacon and I went with pork. Don't get fooled just because it tastes bland at first, even the hollandaise sauce! You can add salt and pepper but just a hint of it please!

At first, I also thought that this tasted very bland and added salt and pepper without thinking much and it turns out that the bacon is super salty. I think they're going to balance out the whole thing by making the other bland and the bacon salty and with my presumptuous act, I got a way too salty egg benedict! :')

Look at that perfect poached egg..tempting!

Out of all, the most memorable dish was The Notorious B.I.G Breakfast! A job well done in making everything in that plate is superb! By the way, anyone else thought that this last photo made it look like I'm having breakfast in a hotel? I even got a comment asking if this was an all-you-can-eat when I posted this photo on my path..lol!

BREAKFAST AT CAYENNE

Say hi to Kemang!! Been so long since the last time we came to this area, I think our last visit was to Queenshead. Blame it on the distance, since Kemang is not the closest place to our home. This time, we're heading south on Kemang to enjoy breakfast!

This place is called Breakfast at Cayenne, so it's only logical that they open early in the morning! You can check out their opening hours at the bottom of this post!

I'll admit that their indoor's not that spacious hence why I prefer eating outside. Not only is it because the place itself is rather small, there's also a souvenir shop, adding a few sofa and it's full!

Fyi, this place is also famous for their coffee, it's just what I heard though. I'm no coffee expert, so if you're curious, better try it yourself..lol!

Here's the indoors!

CAPPUCCINO IDR 36K
I guess it's kind of mandatory that you try the coffee here. The place is totally perfect for coffee time!

Okay, guilty as charged, came here at 3 pm..for their breakfast menu..lol! Fortunately, they serve an all day breakfast menu! Though I admit, I was a bit disappointed with their menu..read on and you'll understand why!

MAPLE CARAMELIZED HASH POTATO IDR 70K
With beef bacon served with sunny side up egg.

First of all, I don't think this is worth it's price! Just some half-cooked potatoes with bacon and 2 fried eggs. At first I was also reluctant to pick this but the waiter kind of wanted us to get this, so we decided to go with it..but it turned out like this!

BREAKFAST BURRITOS IDR 65K
Filled with scramble eggs, roasted vegetables, avocado, beef bacon and cheese with salsa and sour cream on the side.

This one's better than the last one, though still a bit bland but seeing as the only burrito I like is the one at Pasar Santa (if you know what I mean), this was to be expected!

What I appreciate is the size of it. Not because it's huge though, because it's just the right size to bite, unlike other burritos that tend to be way to big!

SALMON CAKES IDR 70K
With lemon aioli topped with poached egg hollandaise sauce and mixed greens.

This was okay-ish, the bacon and chips helped a lot! Reading the name of this menu, I kinda expect a more prominent salmon taste but it turned out to be like a nugget, so if you're a big fan of nuggets, do try this! XD

By the way, this is so not what I'd say but the salads really good! Now you know how plain the other foods are for me to have taken interest in the veggies..lol!

SPICY PULLED BEEF SANDWICH
Here's their menu of the day, which the waiter also tried to persuade us to order! Good job though, since this was the best out of all! Forgot the price but there's not much difference with the others. The beef's quite delish and not as spicy as I thought, just a slight prick, which is pretty good and I love how the baguette is crispy! Totally saved the day!

Let's not forget to hydrate our bodies whilst enjoying your 'breakfast'! :D

The outdoor here is just perfect to chill and there's a huge umbrella on some table, so don't worry about the sun!

The tables are filled with crazy patterns, which I find quite pretty! Can't really say I'll come back but if they improve their dish I just might, since the place is actually pretty comfy! Well anyways, good luck!

BENEDICT GRAND INDONESIA, JAKARTA

Hey, I'm kinda stressed out right now and it's all because I'm facing my final thesis! Although I'm still just doing the proposal, it's nerve-wrecking whenever I think whether they'll accept it or not! (And it's just a thesis proposal, not marriage, can't imagine what guys have to go through, lol!) This is what cause the very late post, which I know it just sounds like 'excuses, excuses, excuses!', so I apologize for that!
Anyways, putting all those stressful things aside, I'm gonna present to you today's topic! Eggsss, it's all about eggs!! Yes, it's Benedict! *YAY* I know you're probably wondering why I'm all hyped up about something other than pork and desserts, but that's because I've waited for Benedict to open for quite some time now. If I remembered correctly, it was since December! Came here for dinner, you probably thought it was for breakfast, but nope, dinner! Lol!

This new tough competitor landed itself on Grand Indonesia, across Uniqlo and next to iBox to be exact. Being in the same group as Union, E&O, Cork n Screw, etc, it was expected that they have the similar kind of interior, since their interior designer is actually the same!

Upon entering, you'll find some desserts on display on your left. They look super tempting but unfortunately, I didn't try any of their cakes or desserts, cause I only wanted to try their dishes. I'll save those for my next visit!

Guessing that this is those free-to-smoke kind of place, which disappoints me. As expected, it was a full house when I came here, to the point where the bar seats are also full! Wow! Well, the place is perfect for dining, snacking, and hanging out, combined all the people looking for those into one and BOOM!

And this was on a weekday, at night! Arrived around 7 pm, I had to go on the waiting list, which I was the second group in line. That's not that long, right? WRONG! I waited 'till 9 pm just to get a table! Unbelievable!

Let's go on with food now, shall we?

PEPPERMINT TEA
First of, WHY is it that green?! I'd be just fine if it was light green or something, like how teas are supposed to be, but that just looks like poison in a glass! Lol! Tasted okay though, very refreshing!

MEXICAN IDR 80K
Chorizo, peppers, chipotle hollandaise, corn fritters, feta cheese.

This is one of Benedict's signature dish but truth be told, it's not my kind of food, just because it kinda taste like corn fritters with too much flour. The only savior here is the beautiful eggs and hollandaise! I think it's just me though, since I came here with a friend and she liked it!

Look at those gorgeous yolk!

BREAKFAST HASH IDR 75K
Short ribs, mushroom, potatoes, fried egg, béarnaise sauce, sourdough.

Best dish I had here!! Though it's not really photogenic, the taste made me not care about it at all! Can you believe it? This is one of the all day breakfast menu, so even though it's meant for breakfast, you can still order it anytime! Lucky! I don't know why, but I kinda think it tastes like a modernized Indonesian stew(?) You should really try it!

FLORENTINE IDR 85K
Dill-cured salmon, sautéed baby spinach, tobiko, hollandaise, challah bread.

Another one of their signatures and a highly recommended by the waiter. It's sort of a comfort food, so expect the seasoning to be very light! However, I personally am not a big fan of light seasonings, since I have Indonesian blood running in my veins, lol! Had to add more salt and pepper into it, but after that, it really turned into a satisfying dish! The challah bread, which I just learnt that it's Jewish, is ultimately soft and topping it with a beautiful salmon and tobiko made it heavenly!

FOIE GRAS RICE IDR 165K
Confit duck, crispy garlic, sous-vide egg, pickled shitake mushrooms.

This was my friend's, since I'm not a big fan of foie gras and really can't understand why people love it so much! It's unusually expensive and there's a certain weird smell plus weird texture, nope, not for me! If you like foie gras then maybe this is perfect for you. There's no complain from my friend, so I guess it's okay, you need to mix it all first though!

FROZEN CUSTARD SANDWICH IDR 30K
Petite brioche slider with a choice of our fav custards.

Inside the sandwich is actually the usual frozen custard, the 4 choices of custards; black sesame, cheesecake, apple pie, and maple bacon. I was gonna order the favorite maple bacon frozen custard but the waiter recommended this sandwich, which already has 3 self-pick choices of custard, so why not? My best picks are the black sesame and of course, the all time favorite, maple bacon, the crispy bacon totally blew me away! Only thing that disturbed me was the paper lining, since the just rip and stick everywhere cause of the custard! Get rid of those!!

There are a lot more dishes that I wanted to try here, but since I can't eat all of it at once, I've decided to come back some other time to try them!! I didn't even get to taste their desserts! Darn it! I guess I'll be seeing you again soon, Benedict!
