BREAKFAST AT PORTO BISTREAU CENTRAL PARK

My first visit to Porto Bistreau is to the one at Central Park, which is actually their 2nd branch. The first one is at Serpong. Porto here is from Altima Group, so it's the same as Nanny's Pavilion, Karnivor, Wild Grass in Bandung, and others. Went here for a breakfast, which is pretty rare and weird, even for me. Who am I kidding? Central Park is not exactly a type of breakfast kind of mall and yet here I am..lol! No, we don't live in the hotel or apartment near here if that's what you're thinking, guess we're just that random!

Porto Bistreau here opens from 8 in the morning, which is why they have a breakfast menu and there're 6 of them, available only till 11 am, so it's not an all day breakfast. Be sure to keep that mind!

TED'S BISTRO TANJUNG DUREN & PALEM CAFE CENTRAL PARK

Went down with a fever few days ago and right after I got better, I immediately went out to get food..lol! Not really unintentional though, cause we did have an appointment to meet and eat at this newly re-branded restaurant called Ted's Bistro at Tanjung Duren. It used to be called Serassa but decided to change the look to be more young and hip with Westernized cuisines!

Their exact location is next to Cafetaria and pretty easy to find actually. Just look for that big black sign..lol! Now, even if they have changed their menus and everything, the interior still feels very Java, though I'm not saying it's bad, it's just a bit mixed! Fyi, the place is not this white, it's actually pretty yellow, since the lights here are all yellow lights!

What they have here is a portion of Ted's Bistro's beef sirloin, chicken, sausage, seafood satay, and sides in 1 plate for only IDR 129K!

Ta-da! Here is what it looks like! Though it's not as much as we expected, it's a great chance to try their dishes, since you got various of things in a plate!

For the sauce, you can either choose mushroom or black pepper. We chose the mushroom sauce here! Their foods are actually not bad, I especially love their sausage. The sirloin beef is also very tender as long as you don't get to the tendon, yet it's very thin for a sirloin. Well, they did say it's only 100 grams but still!

150GR GRILL NORWEGIAN SALMONE IDR 95K

Key lime sauce with butter rice and saute mix vegie.

Now this is not included in any of the Lakupon deal but because there're 2 of us, we decided to get another and try the salmon while we're at it! The butter rice's nice, though not very fragrant and the salmon is cooked well. Nothing more and nothing less!

Immediately going to our next spot which is located at Central Park Mall, it's Palem Cafe! Yes, we went to these 2 places at the same day, it was right after I got better too..the things we do for food..lol!

Palem Cafe here is located inside Sogo, so be sure to look for it there! When we came here, the place was way too deserted! Is it because of the air condition problem Central Park is having lately? But the staffs even said that it's an everyday thing, so I guess we just have to see for ourselves then!

Lakupon has 2 packages for Palem Cafe here! Package A is suitable for 2 people, cause you'll get 2 pasta and B for 4 pasta, so the only difference is literally just in the amount!

You'll get a special menu if you're using Lakupon where you can choose from 10 (if I remember it correctly) sets. They actually have 2 different soups, pumpkin and mushroom but they don't have the pumpkin for that day, so only mushroom..bummer!

What it lacks is seasoning! Other than that it's already fine, you can really taste the mushroom and the creaminess is good, just way too bland! Good thing there're salt and pepper on the table!

For the 4 pasta, we chose set number 9, which is Spaghetti Vongole, Spaghetti Katsu, Fusilli Bolognaise, and Tagliatelle Katsu. Same problem here, bland! I think the kitchen forgot what salt is? There's really almost no taste at all and it's not because I've just recovered, since all of us agreed on that! They really need to improve their seasonings if they want customers to start flowing in!

Well, at least their dessert is good, though it's only crepes with caramelized banana and ice cream. Can't see anything going wrong with that, lest they forgot the sugar as well..lol!

Well, I guess I understand why they're not receiving much love. They do need some serious check up on their quality control or at least try to make their dishes a bit more tasteful? Improving a bit on the service quality can't hurt as well, seeing as their service was still a bit messy. Best of luck!

PANCIOUS NEW MENUS

Can't you believe that tomorrow is already December?? How time flies! Felt like just yesterday we were celebrating New Year and just another 31 days is left of this 2014! Okay, since tomorrow is gonna be a new month, today we're gonna share about something new as well! Though Pancious is not exactly a newcomer in this industry but they're opening a new branch at Central Park's Tribeca Park and serving new menu selections and we're so thankful for the chance to try it first hand!

'Marketplace' is what they're trying to picture in this new branch for their brand new image! Anyway, is hanging cables the new trend nowadays? Cause I've seen it like almost everywhere! Still, it does look good, so I approve of it! (Not that they need my approval anyways :p)

Since they're located at Tribeca with an outdoor equipped, the place was a bit too hot when I came, even their indoors! They said there was a problem with the mall's air con, the odds of being in a mall. Hoped that it's all fixed now, but looking at how crowded they were these past few days, I'm guessing it's fixed or it's not even a problem that'll affect their popularity!

Each menu that were gonna be prepared for us that day was displayed with these cute little jars! Big applause for the preparation!

EARL GREY MILK TEA

Love that the earl grey aroma really comes out and also those cubes made from the milk tea as well, so even after they melt, the taste wasn't weakened at all! Prove that they do care about taste! One bottle of this was enough for 4 glass, which is recommended for 2 pax, since one glass of this won't be enough, trust me!

CRAB & TOMATO SALAD IDR 72K
Was a bit of a disappointment, since the bad smell of the crab was too strong! Too bad, cause it could've been a delicious and refreshing salad with it's balsamic sauce and everything! Please do something with those crabs!

CRAB PASTA IDR 76K

The same problem with the salad occurred here as well! What is wrong with the crabs?! Amazing pasta, bad smell! They really need to fix their crab supplier or something!

BEEF & CARAMELIZED ONION IDR 62,5K
Guess it was okay, but I do admit it wasn't my favorite! I feel like the mushrooms kind of overpowered the beef and using it as a topping for a pancake and waffle was a bit too much for me! Might be because I was too full though!

WAGYU +5 RIBEYE STEAK IDR 325K
The BEST dish I had that day! Totally fell for those tender wagyu and strong flavor! Well, looking at the price, a quality like this was expected, though I do think it was kinda overpriced! With those price, they could actually achieve higher quality and taste, nevertheless, can't deny how good it is!

NEW YORK BURGER IDR 98K
After that amazing wagyu, this burger was kind of a let down as the patty was too dry and the buns was not the best buns I've had! You can even see how dry the patty was just by looking at the photo! Wonder what went wrong?

CREME BRULEE IDR 49,5K
The exact definition of how desserts saved the day!! All I could say about this was; PERFECTION! Made me kind of regret eating the main dishes 'till I was too full to have seconds for this little hero! Just imagine a mellow mille crepes topped with fluffy cream and glazed with crispy caramel! Drool!! You can also choose pancake or waffle for only IDR 39,5K for this menu!

Even though there might be a few problems that should be fixed here, you can't deny that Pancious is well-known to produce delightful dishes! Just because they kinda lack in their new menu, doesn't mean they can't fix it! I bet their popularity will continue to burst up after they perfected these menus!

ARANZI CAFE JAKARTA

Look at this new happy place that has arrived in Jakarta!! Aranzi cafe is a dessert heaven with Aranzi Aronzo characters decorating the whole place. What's Aranzi Aronzo? They're only a company run by Mrs. Saito and Ms. Yomura that produces original goods with super cute characters, their catch phrase; cute, strange, cool, silly, a little bit horrible, stupid and comfortable ARANZI ARONZO!

This fascinating place has set its foot in the 1st floor of Central Park Mall, Jakarta since last week and it's getting popular really fast as time passes! Well, who wouldn't want to visit this kawaii headquarter? Even me, when I first found out about it, I immediately came here with my friends the next day! Fyi, we became the first visitor of that day! Yeah, we're that eager!

Even though the cafe is just a small booth in the middle of Hong Kong Cafe and The Duck King, it stands out like a sore thumb with all the Aranzi Aronzo character roaming around! Without knowing what this is, you'd surely be attracted to find out more about it!

Look! Look! They even incorporated the characters into their cakes! I'm dying from all these cuteness! Just some tips; come earlier cause the later, the less cake will be available and trust me when they say 'they'll restock', it won't be on the same day!

I must admit, I did not enjoy their coffee at all. Well, I guess I shouldn't expect much, since this is not a coffee shop, the defect of enjoying good quality coffees too much is that your taste buds becomes more sensitive too less good ones. It's still super cute though, at least they still have that! Who wouldn't want a Panda on top of their coffee??

SHIRO USA'S RASPBERRY COFFEE IDR 38K

Okay, I put too much high expectation on this one... I was seriously eager to try it cause of its uniqueness! Turned out, it tasted weird, there's just a hint to almost none raspberry flavor, it's like they just put a drop of raspberry essence into normal latte. Big disappointment! Hope they'll do something about it, since it really is an interesting menu!

KURO USA'S CAFE MOCHA IDR 38K

Probably the most decent coffee out of all the ones ordered! Well, you can't mess up with coffee plus chocolate, you just can't!

KAPPA'S JAPAN MATCHA COFFEE IDR 33K

Most cafe with matcha and green tea latte doesn't really have coffee in it, so it's really refreshing to find one with actual espresso mixed into it. Even the name is not matcha 'latte' but matcha 'coffee'! Good job for the courage to do something different! Just some tip for those who'd like to catch this on frame, for the decoration of this one, I have to rush with the photo, since the matcha powder dissolves quite fast and all you'll get is a mess of green if you're too late, so be careful!

 

Love how they synchronizes the cups with the characters drawn on top of the beverage, shows how much they pay attention to details and how serious Japaneses can get into characters!

PINK RABBIT'S BERRY MOUSSE IDR 55K

One thing that's obvious about this place is that, what their selling is really just their uniqueness. For looks they totally scored a perfect 100, but for cake types, most of it is just simple sponge cakes or mousse. Like this one for example, it really is just berry mousse with a layer of sponge on the bottom and cream to create the face. Taste wise, nothing extraordinary, but at least it's not bad, since most place that only sells looks usually have horrifying tastes!

My pink rabbit is flawed! Guess that there was an accident when they put the cake on the plate :(

PANDA'S CHOCOLATE FRUIT CAKE IDR 55K
For the chocolate fruit cake, there's two characters with this flavor, Panda and Black Rabbit. See what I mean by only selling characters? Tastes okay, the sponge's moist and the fruits're generous and fresh, as expected for Japanese pastries!

MONKEY'S CARAMEL BANANA MOUSSE IDR 65K
Calling banana lovers, this one's really perfect for you! The banana taste really pops out PLUS banana and caramel are simply a match made in heaven!! Banana mousse topped with caramel sauce, with chocolate sponge as the base. Really recommend this one as this is the only one that left a pretty good impression in my mouth! Did you notice the cakes are put on the exact same character plate? Too bad they didn't have the monkey's plate!

HORSE'S VANILLA MOUSSE IDR 55K
Darn! They also didn't have the horse's plate! Personally, this is my favorite. It's like a breeze compared to the other cakes, which have more heavy taste even though they're just mousse and sponge, but this vanilla mousse is really light and simple. Another perk is the cookie crumble on the bottom, similar to those on cheese cakes. There's also a layer of berry jam that adds a refreshing taste into the sweet treat. Perfect!

BANANA MILK SPECIAL IDR 43K
Going bananas over this one, literally! The banana taste was really strong so I don't recommend it to those who doesn't like banana flavored beverages. I'm guessing they mixed some nuts into it since they garnished it with nuts, even if they did, it probably got overwhelmed by the banana, cause it was all I could taste. I didn't try to much of it though, I'm not such a big fan of bananas, this was my friend's, but he said it's good, so it must've been perfect for banana lovers!

I know you guys might've been shocked with the price, I admit, 60K for a cake is a bit too much, no matter how cute they are, but the good news is, the cake is HUGE! Well, not a whole cake huge, but it's big enough for a piece of cake, so it was worth it! I suggest you to not get tempted to order all of the cakes by their cuteness, cause that was what happened to me. There were 5 of us to finish these 4 cakes, in the end, we couldn't do it. There was so much leftovers, that it was heartbreaking...but we just couldn't fit it into our stomach anymore! Consider yourself, warned!
